The decaling is the fun job on this kit. It really involves you and it´s not that hard when you do it step by step and side by side. I´m quite excietd about your color choice now, knowing that my M1 was painted with French-Blue (which suits in my eyes because of the name of the car: Map of France )

Re: Converting the BMW M1 Protour into a Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB/4 LeMans

Small update on the fuel injectors.

This cost me a lot of blood, sweat and tears and I am not even happy with the results I really hoped that I could do it better and with more symmetry.

BMW beat me this time. As a friend said "Darn Germans, I bet they even like their spaghetti straight!"
(As someone with a German family name, I feel entitled to repeat that )

BTW at this moment in time, I have no idea what I am going to do with the lose ends of the fuel lines

This is a test fit only and it is held in place with blu-tack.

This is what it was supposed to look like:

Thanks for looking in

I was wondering that too for my 1983 Gr.B car... but isn't the answer in the photo ?

Re: Converting the BMW M1 Protour into a Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB/4 LeMans

Phil, you can see it even better in this photo.

My problem is "just" that there is nothing like this part on the kit pieces so I'm waitiing to see if I can "cheat" when the engine is in plce or will I have to scratch something

Mmm Ok I didn't understand your problem like that, I better see it now.
And thanks for the picture, great one !
a lot of scratchbuld seems to be required for this engine.
I started the 83 corsica Gr.B car few months ago but stopped in the middle of the (endless) engine work...

Come on Steve: you "just" have to do a fuel pump, where's the problem? I's almost likea distributor: steal from Ceelle dayto LOL
I hate you for the blue tack: can't locate nowhere

BTW: great job on injectors and fuel lines: neat.

You are such a pu$$y! I told you I'd send you some if you can't get it.
(or maybe less Remole before you go shopping will improve your search skills? )

Re: Converting the BMW M1 Protour into a Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB/4 LeMans

UPDATE:

I decided to take a bash at the Gio "Gauntlet"

Here's where I am trying to go wit the fuel pimp:

Styrene rod and hex slices

While I ponder that one further I assembled teh painted shocks

I put down some Zero Racing White yesterday (creaaaaamy paint ) and am playing around with how to mask off for the blue color. I scanned and printed out the decal sheet. Maybe I will reduce and attach or maybe I will cut the edges off and "fade" under them....?

Catch you later

Hi Steve,

nice work on the engine - you made the fuel lines alu, might have been better to make them of fishing-rope (?), which is harder to bend, maybe you can tone it down a little bit

You are right Micha but I tried at first with fishing line and there as just no way that it would bend and stay in shape like wire.... so I decided to go with wire

I am planning to give everything a really heavy hand with the dirt when it's all together. One of the things that I do like about my short supply of reference pictures is that they show that this car looked like crap at the race!! It was beaten to sh*t and held together with Duck Tape!

So, I'm going to read all your and Phil's and Sean's and XX's threads again and have a go at weathering the car up to "race condition" (actually, it will be an excuse to cover any bads that I make )

PS How do you like your spaghetti?

Very spectacular model, it's shaping up to be one of incredible detail and care. I just hope you won't overdo yourself with details that will not be seen. Still, it's those things that make you even happier, it seems.

On your spaghetti question; I like mine bendy, thanks.

PS. Your air inlet & fuel pimp is just ballistically detailed. I Adore it!

Sweet sweet sweet!

Re: Converting the BMW M1 Protour into a Ferrari Daytona 365 GTB/4 LeMans

Great job on the pump: I guess another solution for fuel line would be stretched sprue (if you have trouble just post a question on the general area!!!! ROFL, good memory UH, despite the age LOL) that you will bendwarming up

Decals: to me leave big, clearcoat and fade up would be crap if you cut wrong, bigger with overlap, shorter with....

not sure about this but it looks to me that the silver object (behind the black cover) at the front of the engine is supposed to be the fuel injector
