Re: WIP: McLaren M23 - 1976 - Hunt (Tamiya 1:20)

Guy,
I sent you a reply about the intake trumpets from both [email protected] and [email protected] but it looks you don't receive my emails.
Let me know.
Regards
Roberto

Re: WIP: McLaren M23 - 1976 - Hunt (Tamiya 1:20)

After I painted all the kit parts as well as the scratchbuilt parts (following the reference pics, not the instruction sheet) I assembled the main engine parts. Only the intake trumpets are missing, but as you see there was a communication problem with Roberto and now we're back in business, so that will work out nicely

Since the trumpets are missing I can't fix the injection pump yet either. Apart from that, the engine is as good as ready.

That's why I added a few pics inhere, so you get an idea of how things are looking right now. Enjoy!

Incredible realism. A pleasure to watch.

Wow, that last picture of the top view of the engine is awesome. If it weren't sitting on a cutting matt it would look like it was just pulled from the rear of the real car. Great work!

Nice work Guy. It is a model in itself. I look forward to seeing how you deal with the rest of the car...

Re: WIP: McLaren M23 - 1976 - Hunt (Tamiya 1:20)

I added some airvalves, coming from a bag of wristwatch-parts that I purchased at a modelling fair. Next I sprayed the rims with metallic black by Testor's.

Looking brilliant Guy, the BMF in the cockpit does look a little too shiny though doesn't it .

What BMF have you used Chrome or Matte Aluminium or another ?

I bought some Microscale Foil Adhesive with the intention of using it on standard kitchen foil dull side up but I haven't really had a chance to experiment with it yet, I'll let you know if it works.

I used Matte Aluminium for the bottom which is flat and chrome for the sides because they are a lot harder to cover with the pretty stiff matte aluminium foil. But like I said, after a threatment with matt coat it will look a lot better and more convincing
