When I had a chat to Jonathon Kaiser, co-owner of CI, a few weeks ago about the history of #27R, he didn't seem like he had any urgent need to sell the car, although he hadn't used it for a while so, like you say, everything has a price

Re: Recap of English F1 Fleet

Was it #014 that was up for sale about a year back around Palo Alta somewhere? I recall a thread about a yellow car being sold there.

A few years earlier than Greg suggested actually:

yellow F1 car

And yes, #014 was the F1 for sale at Silicon Valley Auto Group for about a year in Los Gatos, which is near Palo Alto. It was auctioned by RM Auctions in 2006 during the Monterey weekend with a hammer price of $1.55M, landing in the hands of its current owner who is also responsible for the costs and specifications of its refit.

Not sure what you are implying with the last part of your statement there. Maybe some more details will help?

#014 was purchased by someone in New York directly through David Clark at Taylor & Crawley. He kept the car about two years before selling it to SVAG. I can put better dates to the story later.

Prior its time at Taylor & Crawley I am not sure if anyone else owned #014, but as we all know it had come from Brunei originally. It may have shifted quickly from Brunei to T&C, but I am not 100% on that.

I don't believe Cars International had any involvement with the car at any point.

EDIT: Just an update, Taylor & Crawley had #014 for sale on their website in mid 2002. Paperwork for Show or Display exemption was processed in September of that year for the owner mentioned above. The car was first spotted in the USA in May 2003 but probably arrived here sooner than that. Without doing too much digging I believe the car went to SVAG around November 2005, and then was auctioned by RM the following August.

Some additional details from the car's second owner were posted here:

Yellow F1....

Re: Recap of English F1 Fleet

#014. It's been suggested that prior to it's sale, Taylor and Crawley were acting on the behalf of a "Royal Family" in it's disposal.

Which Royal Family? And, which Royal member?

If it's the English Royal Parasites, then surely it could only really be Prince Michael of Kent, as he's the only one of the tribe, conspicious in his affection towards motorsports.

Re: Recap of English F1 Fleet

A royal family in brunei but not the brunei family that is known for having all the cars. It belonged to a different family

And despite what certain people might say, the car was in crap condition when it came back to the UK
