Oh, almost forgot, I know the GM auto is good but, is it really almost as fast as the 5sp.? As long as you have a good driver the 5sp. should be faster. But I guess that just proves I'm a Ford guy. Fords auto. is NOT efficient.

Nope and in fact in C5 vettes the auto is faster. Put a torque converter and shift kit in a camaro auto and it'll be shifting faster and more precisely then a human... gotta love it.

If anyone with a 305 or 5.0 wants to come to jersey and race me they're more than welcome... preferably after my transmission is replaced since it's dying but whatever

That's interesting, even on the Vette. But ofcourse if you put a shift kit and conv. in any car should be faster. But I'm talking stock to stock auto to 5spd. That still boggles my mind that a factory auto. could be as good as a factory stick. I guess I could see it on some high end cars but not from the big three, especially from Ford. Don't even get me started on Dodge trannys. Thank you Savage for your help.

If I still had my 5.0 I'd come and race you. 92 LX hatch 5spd., 12inch cone K&N, race pulleys, full exhaust w/offroad H-pipe & 2chamber Flowmasters. But ofcourse it was not stock, so not really a fair race since that is what we have been talking about. The fastest I ran in the 1/4 was 13.8. That was also w/stock gears 2.73 or 3.08 (can't remember). When it was closer to stock (filter, bumped timing) it ran 14.2.

I have a 302 sitting in my garage (right behind the bare LT1)

(Its for my mustang build up. I am going to hook it up and then just swap for whatever the mustang I buy has in it.)
Can I throw it on a chain to the back of my car (on the dolly ofcourse cause I need to use it) and race you Kasey. If the block passes your front bumper. Then a 302 5.0 beat you or you can just wait til I get the mustang all together
