This is McLaren P1 XP2, and that's how we know. Should make ID'ing work a lot easier in the future when we get more P1s rolling on the streets. Unless, that is, some sneaky owners choose to have their chassis numbers blanked out...

It's a cute suggestion, but production P1s are unlikely to have a sticker on the windshield like this. When you have 12 test mules all covered in plastic squiggle wraps this just makes figuring out which car gets which set of keys a little easier.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I do see some familiar corners and layouts... Hmmm. Nice touch.

So why camo a car at all that's already been seen at a car show in 95% production trim?

The prototypes were built long before the Paris reveal and the wrap has been on them since then. Prior to the reveal nearly all of McLaren's testing was being done in the dark of night to help foil the spy photographers. The McLaren P1 made its debut at an event in Miami this evening with Ron Dennis as the host. I'm so eager for it to arrive in Los Angeles!

so they are doing a US tour with the car....do you know if they will do something similar here in Europe?

I don't know yet about plans for the rest of the world. Currently their plan in North America is very limited with invite-only events in 3 locations and private viewings in one other.
