Re: 2011 flying lizard porsches

Thanks for your interest and nice words!

Now, a quick update, just to let you know I´m still building the Porsches

Fujimi´s steering wheel and column parts look OK for me. I will add a little more detail and wiring:

Now, time to detail the console! I sanded off the pedals of the Fujimi part to use the PE detail included in the Hobby Design kit:

I eliminated the details of the Fujimi console and opened holes to add new knobs and switches. That way, I can paint them separately. I will add carbon fiber, decals and air hoses to give the console a more realistic look:

Next, to finish the construction/detailing part of the project, I will plan and prepare the details for the interior (wiring, electronics).
Painting and assembling is coming very soon! Thanks for watching!

Re: 2011 flying lizard porsches

The interior detailing is complete! The interior of the Lizards present a lot of wiring and details, so I studied very closely my reference photos and made a general drawing of the interior details:

With this general view of the components of the interior, I separate each system:

The interior bucket of the Fujimi kit has all the wiring detail molded in the part. Instead of erasing the detail, I will place the wiring I prepared over that detail.

The air jacks looked very small to me. I eliminated them and did new ones with aluminum and styrene tubing. The parts will be easier to paint and detail.

Here´s one of the boxes I filled with the separated detail "modules" of the cars:

And all the templates for the parts to be covered with carbon fiber decals:

For example, here´s the seat detail:

Air cooling system:

Brake detail:

Console detail:

Wheel detail:

So...the constructing/detailing part of the project is complete!!! I have all the parts and details to complete both cars in this boxes:

The really fun part is next!! Painting and assembling!! I hope you´re still watching!!

Hello sam,
ultimate proceeding, most impressive and time-consuming!
Should look like the real thing when finished. I'm a great fan of your subjects and looking forward for every update.
All the best on your way!

Re: 2011 flying lizard porsches

Fantastic attention to detail Sam - to include the sorting boxes. I finally received all my parts to do the two cars except for the H/D PE sets - watching your build has really given me many ideas - some ideas that I have had of my own before you have also done - so it is good to see minds think alike. I would like to start of my Porsches but I will wait until I receive the PE sets - too many time I start a project and never finish because i cannot get all the parts for the build. - Great work Sam keep it up. - John

Hi Sam,

We are still watching for sure! Good to see you've got all the details. Those calipers look really nice and sharp, what brand are those? Scaleproduction?

Have fun with the fun part and keep us posted!

Regards,
Tonie

Wow...fantastic work! Love the organized storage too, but have a word of warning...be careful with the masking tape left on plastic parts - the adhesive can damage surfaces over a long period of time. Having said that, I'm sure you build a lot faster than me, so probably no issue - LOL!

Re: 2011 flying lizard porsches

Hello! I just wanted to let you know that this project is still alive!

After a couple weeks of unpredictable weather, all chassis and interior parts are painted, and the assembly stage has begun. Here are the roll cages with protective padding and inspection decals applied (I painted the rear bar separately so I could add the rubber pieces that hold the seatbelts in place):

I built a foot rest and added carbon fiber where needed:

I added plumbing for the air jacks:

I scrathbuilt a radio receiver and put it in place:

Now, it was time to add all the wiring! Only a couple sets of wires are installed in this photos:

In the next post, I will show you the complete wiring. I hope you are still out there!

Re: 2011 flying lizard porsches

Still watching Sam01 - I'm working on my own "flying lizard" cars - I have all the body modifications done to the "orange" car - I'm currently putting the lizards on hold while I work on the body modifications of my Ferrari 458 GT3 - when I get the body ready I'll get back to work on the lizards. - John
