Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
Pictures like that were released to the press somehow but I think it was just one shot per car. Most publications don't make a habit of sharing the full resolution versions though. The same thing happened when he shared his cars in New York a few years prior.
Doesn't hurt to ask though. ![]() >8^) ER |

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
I was digging through my McLaren F1 LM archive, and I found this in a folder called "Misc"& I thought I'd share. This is LM3 in the original owner's garage from the late 90s. Thanks for helping me with the identity, Erik.

The other important aspect of this shot - chassis #017 sneaking into the frame from the left. Thanks for sharing Michael!

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
I believe this is the only McLaren F1 to be found at this year's Retromobile show in Paris:

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
I watched the production line sheet (which comes with DA book), I have allways thought that LM's were made in 1995.
Really never notised that LM1, LM2 and LM3 were produced after chassis #18R were made. LM4 and LM5 were made after roadcar #044/48 were build. So these LM's are not 1995, they are 1996?! WHy I have allways seen and just remember to seen "1995 McLaren F1 LM" texts everywhere and so on? Same thing with chassis #10R, produced in 1995 but all keeps it 1996 model? Why's that? Or is here something which I don't get it just now?

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
I am sure the confusion (if it is that at all) over #10R is that yes it was built in 95 but it was the prototype and thus the first of the 96 GTR's hence probably why it is always refered to as a 1996 car, more what it represented than what it actually is.

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
The prototype for the LMs was built and introduced in 1995 - all the press materials would have referenced 1995. Also, accuracy in journalism takes extra effort.

This explains it all, why 1995 is mostly mentioned. So LM1-5 are 1996 made. Everyday learns new things of F1....

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
Couple of interesting pictures of XP1LM in some sort of dyno-test from Thor Racing. Sadly couldn't locate the article they belong to.

Re: Beyond The Ultimate: The Definitive McLaren F1 LM Archive
Those photos are about 8 years old - we had a thread on them when they were first discovered. The testing was for a video game - Forza I think.
Lm on the dyno (Anyone seen this) Lots of treasures hiding in this forum for those who don't mind digging. >8^) ER |
