Wow, isn't that going to cost some big $$?

Great progress on the body mockup. Are you going to make fenders too?

Updates

UPDATES:

Been working a little. Kind of slow progress with GHGST Grad testing this week. Anyway, I opened up the new motor. Right now Im working on a new trans, a 700R4 (same as the 4L60E). However it is a chevy trans, so I will be a little inaccurate with the bolt pattern, oh well.

Im building this one out of balsa, putty, fiberglass, and styrene. Blocked up some stuff, and below are some pics. I've started shaping today, I'll have pics of that later or tomorrow.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I hope to start the floor pan over spring break (instead of going to Florida).

Malcom-rim cost is unknown at this time. The company has started tool pathing, but still cant give me a quote.

So, why are you going to a chevy auto trans from that nicely built styrene standard trans for that 426 that you had?

UPDATES:

Shaped the trans. Tomorrow I'll hard coat it with bondo, and start doing some details. Note, the trans looks short, it is a 3 piece transmission, this is just the first piece.

86-Im not using the Hemi anymore, Im using a Ford 427. Im using the 4L60 because I really like it.

UPDATES:

Did a little bit of work on the front end. This is all for the mockup. I used some coat hangers to start getting a wireform of how the front will be done. I want the mockup to be built around the motor so I have an idea of clearences/tolerances. Right now my allergies are acting up so Im not in the best mood to work on it. But thanks for following the slow process.

Its all just held together with some kneaded eraser right now so I can make adjustments.

Dave-As far as cost goes, I'm keeping every reciept to make a log of the total cost at the end. So far I've sunk a few hundred into it.

Thanks! Enjoy!

UPDATES:

Two updates in one day? Is that possible? Who knows? Anyway, been chugin' along working on a wireframe, which with my luck wont work. Kind of flying by the seat of my pants because the foam is sort of a pain. My plan is to build the wire frame, fiberglass over it, then bondo/clay over that. I dont know if it will work. Unfortunately its all hot glue together, whereas I would like to weld it because hot glue sucks. Epoxy takes to long. So wish me luck... Here are some crappy pics.

Enjoy!

Charlie-I chose wood for the tranny because its easier to shape something like that out of wood rather than styrene. Its bondoed and primed right now.
