The reality is, if the US economy fails, the Asian economies fail. Europe would feel the pain to, but not as much. We are the worlds largest net importer be several magnitudes. If people here don’t have money to spend, not only will local businesses hurt, but every country who has a large portion of its economy tied to exports will be in trouble. Japan, Korea, Canada, China, Mexico will be first on the list of countries who will have troubles. It’s a cascading effect too. I would say it's not the laws that "allow" children to take weapons and kill people, but rather, I would place the blame on parents. I was miserable in school and hated everyone, and could have had access to guns (as could a lot of people) but I didn't go on any rampages.
Simplistic gun control (no guns for anyone) doesn't sound like the best idea anyhow...all that happens then, is that the good, law-abiding citizens don't bear arms, but the criminals will still be able to aquire them (they always find a way).

The only really SUCCESSFUL gun control I've heard about is in a town back east, where it is a felony to be in possession of a gun while drug dealing, or if the suspect has a prior conviction for violent felony.. There is a 5-year minimum sentence attached to the possession of that gun, in addition to any other sentence imposed, and there is no chance of parole. Thus, regular, ordinary joes are allowed to own guns, as is their constitutional right, but the people most likely to use those guns for the wrong purposes - in a drug deal gone bad, whilst being chased by police, etc. don't have guns in their possession at the time. The show I was watching (it was on TLC, I think) interviewed a bunch of people who were basically known druggies etc., and all of them said they didn't carry weapons anymore.

The reason this post was made isn't because we think were better than any other country. It's just when countless other countries do dispicable acts, and our GOOD acts get put under ever microscope in the world. Are we really supposed to end up believing something other than Jeolousy. As far as i can think, it's the only thing that makes any sense since every other country that had ever scrutinized us, has had a past far more deserving of the scrutiny than that of what we recieve, while we aren't even allowed to continue with our actions for the good of the world.
