Re: Dino 246 'Daytona' insert seats.
There's always a demand, it just depends on the part, and what people are into building at the current time. I know from personal experience that some parts can sell only a few pieces, while others will sell like crazy, and furthermore some can become very popular and very unpopular in waves. It also boils down to the quality of the finished product, and how user-friendly they are.

Well yes, I know all that from my involvement in other hobbies.

Re: Dino 246 'Daytona' insert seats.
Jon,
If you build it, they will come. Everyone is always wanting to add to their models, be it kitbashing, scratchbuilding or getting things like these seats. So many modelers want to be able to add the exact part to make their model just what they want it to be, that I would say any component that you come up with if done as well as these seats is going to sell. The only hard part is getting connected with the people who would want such stuff, and Automotive Forums is a good first step. Good Luck! Carl

Re: Dino 246 'Daytona' insert seats.
I would also say that it helps to identify a car kit that is egregiously lacking a particular, important detail that most modelers wished was there. For example, the Fujimi 355 that doesn't have proper door panels (nniemi made some excellent ones and sold them for a short time) or an airbag-style steering wheel (notably, early euro berlinettas had the non-airbag wheel, but most spiders, including the euro cars, had the airbag wheel). Another example might be the Tamiya BMW Z3, which has awful kit wheels, and lacks the traditional five spoke wheels.

Re: Dino 246 'Daytona' insert seats.
Thanks gents, that's a help. I'm enjoying auto modelling very much but I've only been involved in if for 18 months and other than this and one other forum I'm working in a total vacuum. Input and advice like that you've given is invaluable. Thanks again.
360spider: If you (or anyone else) can make suggestions, please do! I must say though, my skills (such as they are) are more aligned towards sculpting, rather than machining. Unfortunately, I think wheels would be beyond me. Cheers, Jon. |

It took me time to make the mold as I'm very busy right now but I'll start casting them this coming Sunday. There will be 5 pieces in each set. Please send me a PM with the number of sets you would like to have. I will also contact philmodelcar to see if we can make a wheels+seats package. I take advatange of this opportunity to announce you that the 20" BBS Challenge rims for Ferrari 599 and 612 are also available and Pirelli PZero tires will be available in a week or so. |

Re: Dino 246 'Daytona' insert seats.
Let me add that these wheels and tires will be accurately sized. Over the past few months, Ioan has fastidiously researched, designed and manufactured the wheels. I can't wait to get mine!

No!! It's not a hijack!! Seriously, my part of the thread is finished and your contribution is fantastic. This forum is a modelling COMMUNITY.
And I'd still like you to show photos of the new wheels here |

Meanwhile I'll re-post the picture I already posted a month or so ago when I was starting to clean up the wheel and thin the spokes: ![]() It definitely looks better now, just be patient until Sunday morning. ![]() And while we are at it, and given that you aren't upset with me hijacking this thread, the Hamann style wheels are also available in 20" and 21" versions plus the M3 E46 wheels. |

Sorry my friend, I assumed you had photos of the wheels completed. Oh well, I guess I can wait until Sunday...
