Re: [WIP] Ferrari 612 scaglietti

Hey Vric, yes you're right that's a painting effect. I just used Gunze 500# surface primer and thinned it to a suitable level.(just can be sprayed out from the AB) And sprayed with high pressure and long distance.

Thanks for your comments guys, I really hope I can finish this very soon in the busy periode.

Would you be willing to produce the shift gate assemblies and sell them?? I would buy a dozen, and if you want to make the manual transmission version, I would buy a dozen of those as well.

Re: [WIP] Ferrari 612 scaglietti

Hi guys, long time... I've just came back from the hell for a short while and can spend little time on my pretty lady. Seems nothing moved but I just want to keep this project alive.
As mentioned in my Chinese friends Mr.Ping and Pong's great double project, the body should be taken good care of. Here're some pics after corrected the wheel arches and lines etc.

Over sanded a little on the rear right side, so I reshaped it with some putty works, don't worry about the symmetry, I've checked it very carefully with both my eyes and my hands and I think it's pretty good in naked eyes.

As well as the front air inlet for brake disk.

I will use none of the original parts of the headlight, they all suck. First I made the cover, the original cover was polished out and used as the mold, then I warm casted the cover with a piece of PVC sheet.

It's not perfect, there's some dust out there so I need to remade one, and also some fitment issues to be solved, but it looks much better than the OOB part IMO.
I've removed the crapy XXX(Sorry I don't know how to describe this correctly, you know what I mean...)on the wheels, and joined them into one piece. The brake disks will be replaced with the 360's from my junk box. And they're ready to be painted.

Thank you very much for looking, any comments are welcome as always. I hope I can make more progress later, stay tuned.

You can try it yourself man~ I never use spray can, I always airbrush everything so I'm sorry but I can't give you some constructive suggestions. You can try painting a piece of plastic sheet or so with the can. Try severial distance to see if there's any differences among the results.

Re: [WIP] Ferrari 612 scaglietti

you can try shooting unshaken cold primer from about 20" away.
it's not gauranteed and it's not in any way consistant.

try on a random bit of scrap first before doing it on kit parts.

you can also do short bursts into air in a contained environment and let the primer have time to dry and settle onto the kit parts.
again, you'll need to test this to find your own optimum spray/height/temp etc etc.

AND it takes a while to build up enough.
DON'T spray too much or you'll get larger wet spray from the nozzle.

SMS have a product called Faux Fabric (or something similar) in spray cans that should give a similar result. HTH
