Yes, I did just register here and yes, this is my first post as well. I've owned (currently own) Mustangs before, and I just sold a 2000 Civic Si a little while ago -- I can see both points of view.

Knowing Mustangs very well, I can verify the numbers some people have said above ... the hp is there with only a little work -- 450-550 depending on setup is not too difficult. As for the Si -- I know they can make power as well.

Both cars having extensive mods means even more driver skill would be needed to run them quick -- and I could see either car, if not driven correctly, with the right setup, being a 14 second sled ... or with the right setup, running 11's.

It's best to take it to the track and compare timeslips -- no way to fairly judge a street race ... just a waste of time and dangerous.

Self - Unfortunately I will not be able to make it to MIR this weekend. If I had known about it a month ago I might have been able to drop by, but as it stands I'm way to busy for the next few months. I don't foresee myself having time for the drag strip until the fall since I'm booked up until my trip to Italy in August (which pretty much takes up the month of August). Perhaps we'll meet up sometime at the drag strip or you'll see me on the street. My car is pretty easy to spot since there are not that many Cobras around and my tags match my screen name. BTW, I live in Loudon County (Sterling).

I've almost stopped caring about this thread and I'm not trying to spark even any further controversy but Self don't act all mature all of a sudden.. you're the one postwhoring like crazy trying to get people to believe you and saying you're gonna drive to New Image and taking pics and sh!t. Why someone would care that much about proving their point to random ppl on the internet? Thats why i'm skeptical :smoker:

^^btw i'm pretty sure i've seen the 'kikn asp' cobra. the license plate stands out in my mind.

I've been mature the entire time. And I would think it's natural to want to have people believe what you're saying is true, instead of saying you're lying and refusing to believe what you've said, despite confirmations from various individuals...Wouldn't you act the same? And driving to Nu Image isn't a big deal, it's about 15 minutes from my house, I go there often and have friends who work there. And I'm not postwhoring...It's just that this thread had so many replies so quickly that when I would see one thing on one page, I would write a reply to it, then read further down and see that there was something else I wanted to reply to...No big deal...And "KIKN ASP", I'll keep a keen eye out for your car, I'm in Alexandria, not too far away. I've got a sleeper Z...Dark green, loud as all hell plates BADBIZ. We'll hook up sometime I"m sure.

Sounds good . What year is your Z?

illracer - Maybe I'll see you around sometime. The WRX is an awesome car; I'd love to check it out.

2001 Cobra - see sig for modifications
I also have headers (JBA's) sitting in my room, but I probably won't get them installed until next year. I want to replace the factory k-member when the headers are installed. Need to have a coil-over suspension setup up front in order to install the tubular k-member. So, I'll probably get a coil-over setup in the front and rear along with some CC plates this fall and install the k-member and headers in the spring. Anyway, I've always liked the engines in the F-body (LT1 and LS1). I just like the look of the Mustang more and I also feel more comfortable in my car vs. the Camaro or Firebird. However, I might be buying my friends 95 Z28 to drive to and from work. He doesn't drive it anymore, so he is just going to get rid of it. It has a lot of problems and quite a few miles (120k miles). I should have a list (next week) of everything that needs to be replaced/fixed. I figure if it isn't too bad then I will probably buy it and fix it myself.

Anyway, sounds like you have a pretty cool car. Gotta love the feel of the American V8. This turbo Civic that everyone is talking about sounds like it is really fast, but I would still rather have a V8 .

Hey, if you do end up getting the Z, and need any help with parts or working on it, give me a holler, happy to oblige I like the way Mustangs sound, and I think they're a bit more comfy, exspecially getting into and out of(b/c they're a bit higher), but I like the look of the Camaro more. More sleek and smooth, I think. I REALLY like the T/A look the best, but I didn't shop around enough, and instead just bought the Z. Plus, the thing that really irks me about the Mustang...There are too dang many of them!! I just see them waaay to much. Granted most of them are V6s, but still, they look the same, and I just get tired of seeing them, I suppose. Still nice cars though, and I love the sound!

Yea, the Civic owner is a friend of mine, I was one of the people present at the race...It's a super fast car. And it looks clean...Modest kit, no wing, black rims...clean...But yea, take American Muscle over it any and every day of the week!!!

This is a thread about cars, not off topic questions, right? We realized that a bit late, but did eventually, that's why we took our convo off the boards, and to PM.

Unfortunately i look like any other WRX right now cuz i'm nearly stock. But if you see a silver WRX riding your bumper down Lee Hwy or whatever and honking the horn.. that'll be me.

There's so much bullshit stories on the internet that I don't know which to believe. I know there are fast civics, but it seems that almost every civic guy that posts has an 11 sec one and I don't believe it.
