Here are some more updates.... things seem to progress very slowly when you get close to finishing?

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: Jaguar XJR-9LM - Progress

I've had a spell away from the hobby for a while and really only forced myself to do more work because of the deadline for the contest. I'm glad I did! I forgot how relaxing it can be working on models.... really!

Anyway. I've almost finished now. Just need to go around and tidy some area's up then take some photo's and she'll be ready. Here are some quick snaps I took this afternoon.

I couldn't find any reference shots of inside the front and rear panels so I used a bit of guesstimation and added brake vents and wiring for the lights. I used small strips of BMF to simulate duct tape for holding all the wiring in place.

More photo's of the finished model tomorrow ... I hope?

WOW!
That's about what comes to my mind seeing your build. It's simply amazing...the amount of details is just stunning. Please flood the forums with detail pics in every aspect of the cat. I'd love to see all little gadgets and gizmos you put in every here and there.

Looking forward to a lot of pics.

Amazing! this car looks as if it could/should start in the 1:1 Le Mans competion as well as the forum comp.

It turns out that being a newbie has it's benefits after all - I can watch all the amazing builds that are being enetered without the stress of being an entrant myself!

congrats again

Looking fantastic Rob. you and Phil are going to be nose to nose in the peoples choice, i can already tell. puts my 330 to shame. well ill vote for myself to insure i get at least one vote great work. oh by the way, i saw that around the wheel wells on the nose piece there is a light speckling of black dust to simulate rubber throw up from the tire. is this also done with black charcoal dust or is this paint?

Chad, I actually used a combination of the two. closer to the wheels I used the airbrush to simulate rubber, then the pastels (black & brown) mixed with water to simulate road grime. I think the overall effect worked really well? Although it's always a bit daunting weathering cars because who wants to mess up a good paintjob???

Re: Le Mans Contest Entry: Jaguar XJR-9LM - Progress

As promised here are some completed photo's.
I thought about making a list of modifications but this project just kept getting bigger and to be honest I can't remember all the changes I made to the kit. There is always "that last detail" ???
Thank you all for following this build and keeping me motivated to finish!
