Naturally aspirated? I think not. Even the Turbo honda's running 11's are far and away less than street drivable at that level of power, I kid you not.

Quote:
i would never get a civic but thats because im 6'4" lol and it does take some money to make them go
A WHOLE lot of money. This 'tuner' revolution is supposedly based on cheap hot rodding, but once you start actually making power you're either replacing parts left and right, or are spending far too much...

Quote:
still though the major argument that honda haters use is that it takes money to make them fast.
You said it yourself. You probably missed what I'm about to say.
Quote:
think about it
Meaning, what I have to say
Quote:
go buy a 1991 hatchback for $1000 or a used vette for $20,000.
What Year/Model Corvette are we talking about? For 20K I could get a high mileage C5 that would set the performance bar pretty high. However when you talk about that much money, you'll need some financing.. More on that later

Quote:
for the 19,000 diff you could make that civic outrun, outhandle, outbrake, and simply own the vette.
First, with financing from whom? I can't think of anyway you'll get 20K unless you have excellent credit and a house to mortgage...

Second, any civic that can run with a vette (or better, outrun it on a track ) is a race car. I'm sure someone would be 'proud' to own it, but that would be rather sad, as it takes that much modification to run with a stock sportscar, that with minor modifications could 'own' the family car, a family car that wouldn't exactly be comfortable or fun to drive everyday, and would probably be unable to run at all on pump gas.

Quote:
and yes, the gt40 was good but dont credit ford too much for that one.they abandoned the car after the first year and left cosworth and some privateers to win most of the races. ford just let them keep the emblem and paintjob to get all the credit for it.
Sure. They just paid out the initial cost to get the car running which I'm sure was astoundingly high, by 60's standards, and won with it. Credit is due to the race teams that made it happen both on the track and in the garage.. but Ford paid their way, so we cannot deny them as a company their part and by that, their due.

And would probably not have the reliability issues the rotary is rather well known for, and would probably produce torque the rotary is not known for.

Quote:
mazda said no thank god and stopped making the rx7....
More due to lack of market and demanding, with recalls due to reliability and failure in stock form eating profits.

Quote:
then so many people missed the rotary they made the rx8 and the new rx7!
Mazda saw a resurgence in interest in the aformentioned product in the sport compact market and a high interest in the states in imported 'sports cars', and felt they could make some money.

Quote:
Ford SUCK, can't believe they would just wipe out such a unique and influencial car.
Mazda wiped the car out, Ford had a negliable interest in the car. Please don't spout Automotive Urban Legends as the truth..

ummm wow if you use that POS as a determining factor on how well of a company ford is you should think for a minute.

A) that engine shares technology with the model T motor, ITS A DAMN PUSH ROD I4!
B) that thing was built in mexico back in the early 90s when mexicans were first learning what cars were.(they seem to build things better now)
C) If i said honda sucked based on some car they built in the 60s (hondas dark ages) you'd think i was a tard too. Honda's first civic made like 40 hp, whats the big deal? Ford too has had their dark ages.

About the 3.8 ford v6, i own to of them. Hint: the my username, 2004 v6 mustang. I also own the shitty pre 99 3.8 Litre OHV v6 motor in my 1992 cougar, and it did have the head gaskets problem, but that problem can be solved with a simple change of the head gaskets.

Now about the 3.8L 99+ v6, well they have one of those in the 10s, completly STOCK motor, stock automatic transmission with shift kit and torque converter, 8.8 rear end with t-lock. Then they through twin 16g turbos @ 17 psi on it (combined pressure 17psi). The car ran a 10.996. Go into the cars in general, then look at car videos to see the video of it. The car only had to run on 100 octane (i've seen 110 at the gas station before). the only thing changed on the motor was the fuel pump (not on the motor but you get the point) and the fuel injectors. As well it had to be tuned ofcourse. But this proves a point, that the stock cast rods, cast crank, and hypereutectic pistons could handle 17 psi of boost, and 450+ rwhp( about 550 at the motor)

NOW THATS BUILT FORD TOUGH. BTW a v6mustang is priced about the same as a civic, and with a few bolt on mods gets better highway gas mileage or as good highway gas mileage. My v6 mustang with a few bolt ons gets about 30 mpg@70 mph. Plus you dont have to feel like a shoe when you get out of a damn civic shoebox.

The Ford F-150 has great build quality.
well said but dont forget how well built even the 04 was.

Ok you guys were ripping on hyaundai and ford but the funny thing is in 2004 both companies tied for having the best built vehicle

The 2004 Sonata had only 5 problems for ever 100 vehicles made, by contrast, lexus had 12, the rest of ford had around 15, and toyota had about 20 problems for vehicles out of a hundred built. and the europeans, we wont even mention them, they had about 30+ problems/100. Nissan Morano had 50!!!!! and the lincoln navigator had 50 but thats understandable since it has so many bells and whistles in that thing ofcourse it will have something break.

Now the ford Mustang of 2004 had 5/100 as well, tieing the sonata for first place.
