Re: Started to build my first 1/24 kit.. tamiya 93 Supra. Need some tips and suggestions

These are the items used to make the intercooler. Solder wire, clear plastic, regular aluminium foil, double sided tape and 2 flossers lol

Masked the middle part (so that the solder wire sticks to the plastic properly when glued) then painted it silver.

Used foil with double sided tape to get the steel effect. Its a really easy and quick process. Just need to get the measurements right and take your time when wrapping sides with foil.

You're doing really well for just starting out. I will be posting my supra build soon. I'm doing mine in deep metallic blue. The Tamiya Supra is probably the best all around kit for beginners and experienced builders ever made in my opinion. The way it's engineered makes it look very detailed without any aftermarket stuff. If you have good painting skills you will have an excellent model.

That color would just look sick on a Supra. I read your "how to" thread about blacking out Supra headlights. You did an outstanding job with those lights man.

Looking forward to seeing WIP pics of your Supra. Will this be your third one?

Thanks

Since the car is complete I was thinking what else could be done and I thought why not just upgrade the stereo system.

This simple detail made a great impact to the overall look of the dashboard.

What do you guys think?

The double bin stereo system with the tiny display on the Supra reminded me of my high school years. So decided to give this car the music system that I actually had 12-13 years back when I was in high school. Two 12" MTX subs. That was so cool back in the day

Getting the measurements right was a pain...

Had no clue what I could use to make the subwoofers. I have wired amps and subs myself years back but making one 24 times smaller is a lot harder. Started brain storming and this is what I ended up with.

Re: Started to build my first 1/24 kit.. tamiya 93 Supra. Need some tips and suggestions

Back in the day the ground shaking bass was the way to go but now I am more then happy with stock stereos. Now for me its more about power to weight ratio. There's no way I am gonna put extra weight in the boot or under the seats, in fact if the car is right, no radio/stereo, A/C or sound deadening materials is fine by me. I hate baby seats lol, spare tires, thick heavy floor mats.

But when it comes to kits if you are not having some fun with it then what's the point?
