Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

I bumped into a auto mania on the web but he live in Japan as Korea with Japan nationality. He frequently come to my blog to see Mclaren F1 stuff. One day, he posted two Mc pics in his blog with comment " I was surprised at seeing a Mclaren F1 enthusiast on the web who seem to know nearly Mclaren F1, so as reward to him, posting 97 year Mclaren F1 which is taken from my sort of close car freak", so the potential possibility as to chassis Nr. is #070 isn't it?

Another story is that there is a Mclaren F1 in Korea. The owner is ex-Ssang Yong auto company chairman now this company is belonged to SAIC, China auto company. One of my friends not having seen for a long time told me he saw obviously it was standing basement parking lot with protective Musso off-road car against bullet when he came by that chairman house with document in 1996. Recently i heard he handed it over to very close mate.( Not sure how much deal)

Anyway , you can find it below link ( it doesn't work for downloading the pics from that site), first click above the title "404 Blog Not Found" in his blog and then you can see it in page 2.

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

Thanks man. It's nice to just drop that off, after having been so silent for a while. There was bound to be material on them sooner or later. I'm just glad they were not taken through the window :-)

Here's a few more gems out of Nippon:

Don't know when these were taken, but it seems to be 003.

I think the two Silver ones at BingoSport are the only road cars still for sale in Japan now. According to a source who had inquired about purchasing one from them, they are not interested in selling the F1s outside of Japan. That's a strange way to do the business of selling million dollar plus supercars in my opinion. Given the limited market for those cars as it is, I would imagine finding any buyer might be difficult at times, but it's their business.

The silver F1 that was for sale at LMP Cars (#070 we believe) is now marked sold in their inventory list. The silver one spotted in the Miyaoka showroom was almost certainly the same F1. Here's the last shots from LMP's website:

Before they sold it they added a satellite navigation unit, fitted HIDs to the car, and changed the battery.

Photo #1 comes 'oh so close' to making it into the chassis plaque thread.

A few more of the pair. The event was the one seen on the card in the passenger seat of #013 - the Historic Automobile Festival of Japan.

Here's the last image from bucciali's post - I am getting a red X:

And here's another shot of the two on the flatbed that I just found:

Imagine having that pass you on the highway? That's just nuts!

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

#013 is the one shown in the video from a few years back, titled "Illegal Street racing" showing rich japanese in their super-modified NSX's, Diablo's, Countach's etc etc, from 23 secs onwards - the plate reads the same 89-96 and you can just see the red stripe down the side

(can't find it on youtube at the mo.... )

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

#013 still hasn't appeared on the BingoSport website. It's also still wearing it's Japanese license plate which may mean that it is only on display and not truly for sale.

Interestingly, I have been monitoring their website for the past few weeks and in the past couple of days they have swapped out the previous photos of #063 with a new set. I like the car cover shot even though you can't see the car.

Light-Auto was mentioned previously in this thread. They had #051 for a short period of time. There was also a Gulf longtail we determined to be GTR #20R in their showroom for a while.

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

With inspiration and some direction from our good friend bucciali I'm glad to say that I can finally make some decent contributions to this thread for a change.

Most exciting to me out of everything that I found over these past few days were these three new shots of the F1 believed to be chassis #043.

According to the rough translated description that was found with these images, they were also taken at the 2001 British Motorsports Show in Yokohama. That seems to be the first and last time this F1 was spotted in public. While it's definitely nice to have a few more images of this F1, it would be better if we could find something more current to prove it's still visually the same and still in Japan. The original discussion and more pics of this car are hidden away here if you missed it.

<-- Clickable

Nothing too exciting with this, but it was a shot of #031 that I didn't yet have in my collection:

This was also very cool - there aren't many good photos of #028 in Japan so it was great to find this new one.

<-- Clickable

Here's a handful of chassis #051 images I hadn't seen from the supercar show in Japan again. Wish they were larger as I really like this F1 quite a bit except for that goofy green shift knob. All of these are clickable, but none offer high-res.

Here are some new shots of #013 (red stripe) and #063 at the Historic Automobile Festival recently. Try to ignore the rather awkward looking Mitsuoka Orochis crowding some of the shots. These images are also clickable, but again, no high res.

These three are just digitally enhanced versions of familiar shots from the Rosso issue on the ZAZ Museum cars that came out last year. I save lots of stuff like this that most would probably ignore and thought these were cool enough to warrant sharing:

Last (and almost least given their miniscule size) are these three new shots of LM2 seen outside of it's cage that we fondly know as the ZAZ Museum. I learned through yet another rough translation of the site I found these on that the photos were taken when the car was displayed at the Yamazaki Mazak factory in Oguchi, Japan. Mazak makes machine tools and has been a global partner to the Mercedes/McLaren F1 team since at least 1999. I suspect that Mr Tsuzuki has some connection with the company as his pearl white Enzo and FXX were also seen in photos being displayed at the same location. All three cars had been stripped of their ZENT/ZAZ logos/plates at the time and wore Mazak ones instead. You can just barely read it on the plate on the LM in the third shot.

Unfortunately those are not clickable thumbnails. That is as big as those three shots get for now. I will definitely make an effort to contact the person who shared them to see if larger versions might be available. No promises though...

Enjoy all the new stuff!

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

Something odd I just noticed when I found this image...

The wheels on LM2 aren't engraved with the "F1 LM" logo as seen on LM3 and more recent photos of XP1 LM.

I was kind of suprised by this and actually thought that it could have been Photoshopped out for some strange reason, but looking at all the other images I have of the LM2 I don't see any evidence of it being there.

Before you ask, yes I am certain it's LM2. I think there will be more good photos to come from this set, but I haven't gotten my fingers on them yet. Searching in the depths of Japanese sites is not the easiest task...

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

This shot was on the same page as the LM wheel, along with photos of wheels from a few other ZAZ Museum residents.

I also found this blurry postage-stamp-sized shot of what I would guess is the other white F1 - Okamoto's #031 - on track. This photo was linked from an even smaller thumbnail if you can believe that (gotta love those tiny images on Japanese websites ) and I literally laughed out loud when I clicked on it and THIS was the "larger" version.

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

What do you know - I found a new pair myself too.

Here's a shot I hadn't seen of Okamoto's #031 at the Car Graphic Autumn Meet last year:

Here's a pair of #063 at BingoSports (you have to look closely in the second shot):

And two more of #013 and #063 together (the 2nd one is u-g-l-y), then one of #013 by itself:

Here are some great detail shots of #053 in the ZAZ Museum which I found on a Japanese blog site. I'm having someone else help me get in contact with this guy to see if he has more photos. He's the same one that shared the shot of the wheels on the LM & #053 that I just posted but I haven't been able to find anything more than this going page by page in his blog.

And finally - one more of #053 from another source:

As always, enjoy!

If it was 012, technically it should have GM signature ahead of the chassis plate, right?

It took some digging, but this is original quote on that subject from XOTech:

Quote:
My indication also suggests that only 13 cars were originally hand-signed by Gordon Murray in the way shown on #007. I am aware of at least 2 other car owners that have returned a component to Gordon for his signature.
Note that he doesn't say that "the first 13 were signed", just that 13 cars were.

I can't find any visual evidence of chassis #009 being signed, but chassis #073 and the car believed to be chassis #059 are both signed on the right chassis spar. Also, chassis #013 seen below, while signed by Murray on the brake balance foil, is not signed by the chassis plate like chassis #007 and others we have seen.

I just don't see how the Tag Heuer car can be anything but #012.

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

I have managed to locate 3 old (?) short videos of #013 revving (notice in movie #1 the signature of Gordon Murray on the rear brake balance foil)
movie #1
movie #2
movie #3

They are actually part of a longer video from Japan that I found a while ago but can't place my hands on at the mo but to be honest these are the best F1 bits of it

TURN UP THE VOLUME!

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

Anyone heard of the Hasumi Corporation? They seem to have an F1 in their offices in Japan -

Anyone know the chassis #?

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

Nice find Greg! Depending on the age of those photos it looks like it could be chassis #063 to me, as it has those same four holes in the front nose piece. Also Bingo Sports removed #063 from their inventory several weeks ago so there's a good chance they no longer have it. Hopefully we will see more of it soon.
