Updates:

UPDATES, if you will.

Im not sure if you can really call this an update, but here's what I've been doing the past 2 days. Designing my strut in 3D for my machinist. Heres what I have for y'all to look at.

For those of you interested in 3D modeling:
This was drawn in AutoCAD 2002. However, I needed to create a program/application for the helix command to make the spring.

Enjoy!

This should be in the graphic manipulation, Mr moderator.

Just joking, good to see you're still on this one.

Updates:

UPDATES:

Finally some progress. Yesterday, the NNL show motivated me to get back to work on it. I went ahead and built the master for the brake calipers, two halves to be casted, bolted and glued together. Built entirely out of styrene. Tomorrow I'll try to putty it up, and then build the pads.

Its sittin' next to a 1/24 or 1/25 brake disc and caliper just to show the shear magnitude. Im thinking about making the little viewport bigger (where you can see the green tape).

Enjoy!

Re: ULTIMATE SCRATCHBUILD: 1/6 Hot Rod (Progress)

Looks good! For a solid piece of billit, looks spot on. Of course (and you should expect this comment) I'd rather see one of the more complex, all aluminum, floating center jobs... but then, it is a hot rod, right? Looks good. Your mode of construction is very good, too, laminating sheet together. Clever.

Re: Updates:

shit. That's awesome. Great job on the caliper. Now, you simply need a nice turned aluminum rotor that's cross drilled to go with it.

Thanks man. The rotors are probably going to be turned out of stainless, and plain though. I thought I'd save my machinist a head ache and just go with plain jane simple elegant rotors.

Updates were supposed to be here. But not one of the new pics came out, and my cam died. So, verbal update. Built the brake pads, and the clips. The pads clip onto the caliper sides.

Right now Im looking up diagrams for brake systems. Im probably going to do a remote "booster", at this time, Im not quite sure.
