Re: ULTIMATE SCRATCHBUILD: 1/6 Hot Rod (Progress)

Seems like Coil-overs. I need to really look in the ads in the paper for a lathe. The one I was going to get was $400. And unfortunately my income at this time is at a slow. Once income picks up, the project will pickup.

First time I've read this thread in a long time, and everything's looking awesome so far. What kind of parts are you needing to turn? I've got access to an entire machine shop, sheet metal shop, and welding lab anytime I need it. Long story short, I've worked so much and so hard in my metal shop class for school, the teacher gave me a key to the shop so I can work anytime I need to. Send me some drawings if you want to and I'll see what I can do for you while you're waiting on income.

Edit: One more question, what's the duty cycle on an Econo-tig?

Thats great to hear you could help me turn some parts. I was going to have Steve do it, but he's really busy. Then I was going to do it, and my business came to a slow. Do you happen to have AutoCAD? Or would you want me to take a pic of the drawing? You can get an idea of what Im looking at. I need to redesign my strut so its less complex/difficult to machine. Whats the pricing you have in mind?

The EconoTIG's duty cycle is 100%. I wouldnt go with a TIG welder less than 95%. Lincoln's got some nice TIG's with 100%. I think the squarewave is 100%, and that thing seems to weld real nicely. But as you know, its not the equipment that makes a good weld, its the welder that makes a good weld.

I've got 2002 at home and 2004 at school, so whichever version you've got, I can see them. What kind of prices have other people given you? Whatever mine is, it'll be plenty affordable. I'll pm you so we can talk there.

Re: ULTIMATE SCRATCHBUILD: 1/6 Hot Rod (Progress)

with such a cool project going on, your telling me you have no one else helping you? you could save yourself a LOT of hours if you get a group of people helping with this.

and just out of curiosity, have you taken any design classes at all? wouldn't it be easier to do some things on CAD possibly?

one last thing, are you going to design just the body of the car or the car and all of it's parts? If your doing THE ENTIRE CAR your gonna want some help

Im not one that works well as a team on such a small project. Plus, there is nobody else in my school with the skills I posess, that I know of. I also feel quite capable doing it myself.

Yes I have been doing Drafting, engineering, and CAD Drafting for four years. I have also been awarded for my skills in those areas. I also have my own business in which I am a CAD draftsmen.

Have you not seen my designs through out this thread either? All the designs for this car are done on a CAD system, and usually posted up here.

I am designing the entire car, have you not seen the previous pages of the thread? I am on the chassis now. Waiting for my machined suspension, that I am designing in CAD. Then I will set up the rolling chassis, so on and so forth. This project will have everything working, except the drivetrain. Hood, trunk, and door latches. Interior, and exterior lighting, etc.

Like I said. Im not the best person that works as a team, plus not many people have an intrest in hot rods at my school, nor have the know-how and knowledge.
