Re: Porsche 917K Le Mans 1971
Ufffff, You only have to think that it is a new challenge, not an easy one, but with your hands and another new body, you can fix it!!
Happy new year! |

Re: Porsche 917K Le Mans 1971
Thank you for the tyre reference !!!
Just one question for you....Why you didn't make all the roll-cage in Brass/Metal materials but you mixed it with the plastic material ? The final result in metal will be better !!! Andrea |

Re: Porsche 917K Le Mans 1971
Wow...bummer! I just had a similar incident with my Countach...my cat got into my workroom & jumped down onto the body, cracking it across the roof/windshield pillar. I think mine can be repaired though. Glad you were able to find another one...

Re: Porsche 917K Le Mans 1971
Sorry to hear about the mishap Eric. Luckily, any one of the Fujimi 917's should suffice to repair this. I've been looking for the #22 Marko\Van Lennep car for awhile now on Ebay with no success...
Keep your chin up and keep up the great work. I'm rooting for you... ianc |

Re: Porsche 917K Le Mans 1971
@Andrea Steven; Why you didn't make all the roll-cage in Brass/Metal materials but you mixed it with the plastic material ?
Well Andrea, plastic rod is more easy to work with. When using copper I have to solder it. This way I can work a little bit faster, when disaster stays out of my hobbyroom . Anyway, thanks for your support guys. Will post some pictures soon of the engine, wich is starting to look OK.Eric |

Re: Porsche 917K Le Mans 1971
Looking forward to seeing the engine. It was this post that inspired me to have a go at the brass chassis. Superb work!!!!!
Did you just glue the fujimi transaxle onto the MFH engine? or did you sand off the flywheel detail and make it flat to help fit? One final question if I may.... does the engine gearbox fit into the brass chassis as one piece or would it need fitting as two seperate pieces. The real car has the engine fitted first and then the gearbox after. Keep up the excellent work... Andy |

Re: Porsche 917K Le Mans 1971
Okay, the replacement 917 arrived at the end of last year. So that problem is solved. In the meanwhile I busy building the beautiful engine from Model Factory Hiro. Underneath you see a photo-story how the engine was build. It's all wired. I only have to place some small detailparts and it's finished. Enjoy the pictures.

One thing though and that is that I'm not going to use the reardeck from Renaissance. After close examination it's just to wide. Instead I'll use the original Fujimi one. That's it for now. Eric |

Re: Porsche 917K Le Mans 1971
My God, that is a thing of beauty! Time to start thinking about a design for the engine lid hinges so you can show that thing off!

Re: Porsche 917K Le Mans 1971
I'm just finishing the engine. The fuellines had to be placed. For this you also have to make use of PE washers and nuts.
![]() The PE washers and nuts. ![]() This weekend I've made some progress on the body. I cut out the door on the right. The left door, I think, will be firmly in place since the body becomes to fragile when removed. I follow the path of Rallyraider and there will be plenty of detail visible. ![]() ![]() For the hinge I used plasticcard and a small copper-rod. ![]() Eric |
