Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24

Ciao Belli,
here we go again with the decal apply.
The decal sheet arrived this morning and so I runned here to see how it looks with some writings over.
I started with the hardest part of the livery, the white spots.
Right now I am waiting the gunze Mark softer dry and hope the whites will cover as much as possible, even if I am already prepared to apply all the whites (and I think all decals in general) 2 times.
The bright blue (is bright..believe me..in pics looks really deeper but is not at all) is anyway a dark surface for whites, so will see what to do.

The alps decals are very very VERY fragile so I have to use theme very carefully.

But the beast is taking life little by little and with your support.

and the internal part is still ALL to do

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24

decals for windshields applied.

The name Beppe Gabbiani on the front windshield is a mistake, cause this car raced mostly with its owner (Piero Necchi, owner also of the main sponsor of this car).

The other pilot Beppe Gabbiani, is a living legend race pilot from the 80s (he raced with Lancia in the C group serie, formula 1 with Osella, and in recent time with that green too nice BMW m6 from Ac Schnitzer).
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beppe_Gabbiani (choose your language, even if the italian page this time is much more detailed)
His nickname is Cavallo Pazzo (crazy horse) and he has a life that seems coming from a movie.

Too skilled pilot. He didnt do all the "Campionato" races, but just some, sharing the seat with his good friend Piero Necchi.

Little wanted mistake, but is a tribute I wanna give to this fool guy, survived to the "golden age" motorsport era

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24

and I also finished the wheels, adding some decals (also NTM racing symbols inside the rims).
Note, as u see in previous page picture of the real car, the dunlop writings in tires is big over the fwd one, and smaller one over the rear one, so I copied this configuration.
The wheels were painted overall with flat blue and shaded with some tire black from Gunze sangyo.

WOW! I really can't wait to see what you're going to do with the interior. The exterior will be hard to beat.

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24

In those last months I had to finish 4 different models (I am basically a planes builder..so when they call, I have to run and produce).
Xmas mess is always a problem, but we did it.

Returned now working a little on my BMW, but I noted I have no more quality carbon fiber decal for the roof and for the main wing.
I try use the old BBR carbon fiber sheet, cause have a small piece remained, but its quality is really bad.
The decal is too dry and react very bad with the Gunze mark softer, so I just consider this as a base for something better upcoming (thing I will use MG decal or studio 27 cartograf one).
No way..when decals come older, there is really no way to save theme. Maybe I can still use the last part of this shit for some minor parts inside the cockpit.

Still dunno how is the internal part of the roll cage (mostly the inner rear part), also tryd ask to guys in italian forums, but no way..everybody just sitted by the pc.No help at all, will do it my way..as usual
Shame cause the real car is right now parked in the wonderful showcase of a very big BMW car dealer (the Rolandi auto Bmw..)

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24

If i was you i would try to take off the carbon fiber off the roof if you plan on using a different set. Because laying a new one on top will not want to conform as well and also all the flaws below will be shown on the new cf on top.

I tend to use a lot of sms cf and never really had problems.

Re: BMW M3 GTR - Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance 1/24

Finally I can go on finishing the exterior of the BMW.
The carbon fiber now is definitely better,so now it is time to see what is under the front light covers....just hope Tamiya tape will work properly.
Now , if all is ok, can be time to fix trasparent windshields and start to work at the interior part (that at today still doesnt exist..LOL)
