Re: WTF have I done...

LMAO, thanks guys. It does look a lot neater without the direct port nitrous too. I got tired of having to remove it and reinstall it every time I had to do anything in the engine bay. It's always in the way. If I need nitrous I'll run a single dry shot and add fuel with AEM. No real distribution issues with a dry shot...

Re: WTF have I done...

Long time no update. I don't even know where to start. Most of the big stuff was done in previous updates. I recently made a ton of small fixes to sort out all of the BS that was done poorly on this car. I still have a good list of shit to do. I did add a Kenne Bell Boost a Pump to raise voltage to the A1000, it was definitely running out of fuel. AFR dropped from 12:1 to 11:1 with no other changes.

Took it out to the NEDSM dyno day Saturday and ran it. The car made 570 whp on a mustang dyno at 40 psi dropping to ~36. Peak power was made at 8500 rpm/140 mph. Torque peak was around 360 at 7600 rpm. Full boost comes in around 7k. I'll post the chart later, and I'm still trying to sort out the videos. This would be around 650 whp on a dynojet. For perspective, the car went 9.3 at low 140s with 510 whp dynojet and more weight. The best part is that the car ran perfectly and had no issues. No leaks, fires, blown up slicks, etc.

I've got all the safety requirements sorted out finally. Fire supression system is not halon, so I'm safe from the 08 halon ban. Expired 5pt harness was replaced, etc. I still need a full fire suit, but I'm gonna rock the jacket as long as I can. Once I sort out the last few things on my list it's going to the track for a track rental. Maybe in ~2 weeks. I'm starting to get a little excited now about actually running it, now that the bulk of the work is behind me.

Re: WTF have I done...

The power numbers are lower than I would like, the 6k rpm torque converter sucks up a ton of power. It's still plenty to get the job done though so I don't mind. I should have video up tomorrow.

Re: WTF have I done...

Those numbers do seem a bit low, but maybe I am just ignorant. I was always under the impression that 42R's were good to like 800 hp. What fuel are you running in that bitch Kevin? Gonna run meth?

Re: WTF have I done...

It is an 800 hp turbo. Considering that that's dynojet power, and I'm right around 650 DJ bench racing equivalent (it's actually pretty accurate), that leaves 150 lost to the auto tranny/TC. Not too far fetched. What seems most odd to me is that I seem maxed out at 38-40 psi boost. I know this setup moves some air at a given boost level, but I'm not sure that's right. I have to rig up some way to do a boost leak test on this POS.

A couple vids have been uploaded, but not the one I want up. My site seems to be down now too, but perhaps it will come up later, they're linked on the bottom of the RWD vids page.

After the car did so well on the dyno I decided to fix up some of the wiring issues I know the car has. So much for that. One thing led to another, and I ended up balls deep in a complete engine and chassis harness rebuild. Should be done tomorrow, and I'll sleep better knowing the car isn't going to burn to the ground and take the garage/house/parents with it... Oh, and it might work right too...

Re: WTF have I done...

Technically 570, on a Mustang dyno, which is the equivalent of 650 on the more popular Dynojet. Once I'm done tuning it on the Mustang dyno (awesome dyno for tuning!) I'll take it to the local Dynojet for the big number glory pass. If I can sort out a few little issues I think I can get it to 700whp DJ, which in a 2100 lb auto car should be at least two times what I need to kill myself when I stuff this toilet into the wall...

Re: WTF have I done...

Dragged the car out to the track today for a rental looking to get some seat time before the BOTI event this weekend. I turned the boost down and made a bunch of partial shakedown runs to get used to the car, see if the brakes work, etc. Gradually turned up the wick as the day went on. In the end, at 29 psi, the very first full pass in this car was a 9.8 at 145. I can't even friggin believe it. 60' was 1.49 leaving relatively soft, 1/8th mph was 118. It's been dyno tuned up to 40 psi, and the HP difference between 30 and 40 psi was around 120 whp. LMAO.

The car goes pretty straight, but it's a bit of a handful still. I had a few scary moments as it got colder during my half track license runs, so I called it quits. Would have been nice to get the license out of the way. And now I can't run BOTI without it, LMAO. So much for the big rush.

I'm pretty happy with this of course, and I can't wait to launch it harder. I have to figure out how to pack the damn chute soon, wtf...

Re: WTF have I done...

The chassis is only legal for 8.50s, I'd like to run anything between that and 8.99. Considering that a better launch at this 145 trap speed is good for a low 9, I don't think it's too much of a stretch. But we'll see.

Re: WTF have I done...

Good job man. Running 9's on a conservative pass is pretty serious, IMO. I'm sure it will be crucial once you get it dialed in and get used to it!

Re: WTF have I done...

Thanks guys. Next week should be a fun one. I'm going up on street night to finish my licensing passes, and then there is a local import event saturday where I plan to really launch the car.
