Mike, I'm machined a piece of rod that fit in the counterweight journal hole very snugly. I then just tightened the jaws in the rod making sure the back face of the counterweight was flush with the face of the jaws.

I believe Mark has been working on his project for nearly three years as well, only difference is he is almost done. The beginning of March will mark the three year anniversary since starting this project in 2004.

I still have quite a ways to go. Nothing is anywhere close to complete. I'm shooting for completion between November 2008 and the 2009 GSL. No guarantee's though.

I think you got me there Will. I'll actually be using RC oil from my shocks as its a really thin lubricant. I will use it to lube the crank and cams. Now that makes me question, is oil a raw material? Or will this project only be 99.9% scratch built?

Nice play on words. I did make a little stand for it, it just happens to be in the form of a crankcase and main caps with an oil pan for a cover.

Hey Murray, wonderful to see you around again. I hope all is well. The crank will only be visible through pictures when I'm done. However, when I'm displaying this at shows I will pull the valve cover off halfway through the show to show the internals.

Thanks for the constructive feedback. I've been keeping this extremely well documented. I've already talked with editors that have asked to publish my progress and do a spread upon completion. Lots of notes, lots of articles, lots of pictures. You can already see my scratch build seminars in Model Cars Magazine.

Once again everybody, thanks for all the kind remarks.

It seems I'm my own worst critic. My crank wasn't straight enough for me, and I didn't like the tolerance between the main sleeves and the journals before and after chroming. So I pulled apart the crank and started re-machining the journals then I'll set it in my jig and solder it up soon.
