Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

I was going to wait until either me or Erik can identify this car but i figgure why not. This was taken at a dealer in Japan. I have emailed them asking for more info and if i get a reply, i'll be sure to share it. Enjoy the pic

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

Looks like 28R to me, but DAMN that is an amazing collection. I wonder if the owner drives the cars. Probably not unforunately.

Edit: Could that be the CLK LM that was for sale on CarClassic.com a few years back?

Re: Recap of Japanese F1 fleet

carclassic is not a dealer. The car was sold through Oakfields

It could very well be 028R. In fact, its almost identical to how 028R appeared at Spa in '97

I never said they were a dealer. I merely said that it was "for sale on" CarClassic.com. I can put my car "for sale on" Autotrader.com, but that doesn't mean Autotrader.com is a dealer.

GTR #28R also finished the FIA GT season at Laguna Seca in 1997 wearing race number '1'

It didn't race under any other liveries since then, so the hypothesis seems likely.

I'm not able to post the words I uttered when I first saw that photo.

I do believe that it isn't a photo of one collection. I think the cars were brought together there for a "shock and awe" photo to be used on the main page of a website or in advertisements. That picture is taken on the second floor of the dealership and there weren't any other photos on their site of those cars or any mention of them being for sale.

Impressive shot though - and as Chris mentioned - it must have been taken quite recently with the MC12 being present.
