So F1 drivers aren't true drivers?

I like manual transmissions as well, but driving them is not a pre-requisite of being a "true driver", whatever the hell that means.

And no, a Supra is not meant to race. If it were meant to race, it wouldn't be street legal. It would come with a roll cage from the factory, wouldn't have sound insulation, back seats, a stereo, etc etc etc etc. Also, yes, it fits into the extremely broad "sports car" category, but is more than anything a GT car.

PS. It uses a 6-spd anyways

Well, actually the F1 gearboxes are manuals. They don't have torque converters and they don't have bands. Just like any other manual they have a clutch, flywheel, and gears. The clutch is simply computer controlled. So I guess they are automatics from a user standpoint but manuals from a design standpoint.

Cheers guys.

Best time to date is now a 12.01 @ 186khm (115.5 mph) with a 60' time of 1.66 my personal best.
That was done on 235x40x17 Federal 696 street tyres.

The poor bloke in the passenger seat is the owner of the Lotus if memory serves me right. I told him to make sure he leaned back but umm guess he failed and the only that kept his head attached was the seat lol.

I believe the Elise got down to a 13.7 towards the end of the day.

Moppie and Taranaki both have been in the car. Moppie down the strip when the car wasn't make much power only about 370hp. Taranaki however got to go for a blat up a motorway here at an insane speed. I won't mention the speed but suffice to say he set a personal best for topspeed
Dr. Raf and Spec11 or snowhite 34 girl have both been in the car also and yea it gave DrRaf the shits too

Re: What Do You Drive? (56k warning)

The guy in the car owned the Triumph Dolomite Sprint, which was his classic race car (hince why it was so fast).

The Elisses all seem to run in the mid 13s at Meremere, and extremly consistant at it, regardless of the driver.

A nice southern California mountain road that's often closed and always crawling with cops. Several magazines take pictures up there sometimes, too...
