Nick - Mac at Mac's Modeling is trying to become a US (stateside) dealer for "Zero" paints, but as of yet Hiroboy is only accepting distributor offers for the EU. I have spoken with Mac on several occasions to attempt to retail "Zero" paints and Mac has said he has sent inquiries to Steve at Hiroboy regarding a distributorship and is awaiting the determination of whether it is a practical thing. I guess our US postal service has a phobia about "hazardous" materials but in fact everything on an airplane is hazardous given an "ignition" source. A bottle of alcohol or large bottle of perfume is "fine" but a small bottle of paint is "dangerous" go figure - you know the wisdom of our government since 911. I'll get a call off to Mac to see if there are any further developments. - John |

Here are some photos of the body modifications and detailing... A couple holes for the roof antennas: ![]() I sanded off the hood/trunk pins molded in the body. I will use photoetched pieces, thin wire and sewing needles instead. I did holes for the new detail: ![]() ![]() I opened a hole for the connectors in the rear (I will use styrene and needles to build the connectors and their base): ![]() Holes for the body fasteners (I will use aftermarket fasteners): ![]() ![]() The Flying Lizard team used downforce canards in 2 positions in the race...I will only use the lower ones. The canards included in the Carrera body are OK. I sanded them a little to obtain a thinner look: ![]() And I filled the holes for the upper canards: ![]() I did holes in the doors for the lights used if the car is running in one of the top 3 positions in the race. I found photoetched details in a Ferrari detail set: ![]() I will use Greif light lenses for the front lenses (I used lenses and tube styrene to build the fog lights...the holes for the fog lights will be done later): ![]() ![]() The front bumper reinforcement strips were done with very thin styrene. I will add bolts to the strips after they are painted and installed: ![]() The Fujimi side mirrors are way better than the ones included in the Carrera body, so I filled the mounting holes for the Carrera pieces: ![]() ![]() Thatīs it for the moment...I still need to do the holes for the fog lights and prepare the rear wings. Thanks for watching! |

Re: 2011 flying lizard porsches
Just an update on a previous posting I made - Talked with Mac the other day and he said he will NOT be doing the "Zero" paints here in the USA - he said there are just too many issues with Homeland security trying to bring what they consider "hazardous" materials into the USA. He is looking into finding a USA paint shop that will be willing to do specialty paint but it will be an as ordered and paid for basis. Just to let people know he has some "Finishers" paint if anyone is interested - see his web site under "paints" - John

Re: 2011 flying lizard porsches
LOL, that dudes standing IN the car! Dont see that very often...
Nice chrome red paint / vinyl job. be pretty expensive if you "rubbed" shoulders with the other competitors... Sam - Loving the build so far, your builds are always incredible to watch, the detail you go to is extraordinary!!! Cant wait to see more on this (& the Murc R-GT, & Eleanor...) Ash

![]() Now, the latest work I have done on the Lizards...The wheel arches need some work to match the aerodynamics of the real car: ![]() ![]() The fujimi rear wheel arches need a little more work...the section in the red circle need to be sanded down to match the real car: ![]() ![]() ![]() I decided to use the sides of the Carrera rear wings. They have more detail than the photoetched pieces of the Hobby design kit. (They are a little thick, so I sanded them down): ![]() The Profil24 kit includes wing supports for both cars. They donīt have much detail, so I will add some bolts to bring them to life. To position the supports in the orange car, I only needed to sand 0.5 mm in each side of the trunk cover: ![]() The Carrera body presents 2 huge holes for the wing supports. I used the supports to fill the gaps and left 0.5 mm in each gap to install the photoetched supports: ![]() ![]() For the wing itself, I used the Fujimi part, and did new mounting holes for the photoetched supports: ![]() Next, I will scribe the body lines a little more to make them deeper. I am using ZERO PAINTS 2 part clear coat, so I need the lines to be there after 2 or 3 coats of clear. I will also show you how I did the cuts to transplant the rear section of the Fujimi body to the Carrera body. Thanks for watching!! |

Re: 2011 flying lizard porsches
Nice installment Sam01 - thanks again for sharing - I received my Flying Lizard "Zero" paints yesterday, but I'm waiting on two Fujimi GT3R "white car" kits from HLJ to arrive along with the PE sets. I decided not to cut up the two "Goodsmile racing" GT3Rs I have since Fujimi is only doing one production run of them with decals because "goodsmile" has returned to using BMW's for their current racing machines. The paints look right too, the pearlescence is about correct and Steve at Hiroboy gives you enough paint in the bottles to complete both cars if you do not waste the paint - - John
