Re: 1/8 Scale Scratchbuilt 427 AC Cobra
Weekend update... well, I almost hit my target for the weekend, which was to complete the chassis... I'm about 8 brackets and 8-10 tabs shy, but those I should be able to knock out tomorrow night. Whew!!! Some of the things I had to make and solder in the rear areas were a real treat! Check out the tension bar mounts... they're the ones at a funky angle, right in front of the "box" at the rear. Those were really fun... I may be cross-eyed now, Lol! It's looking pretty good, though, so I'm happy with the progress... enjoy!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And just to give everyone a sense of scale, the main tubes are 12" long, 2" apart and made from 1/2" diameter solid brass rod and the suspension tubes are 7/32" brass rod. The thing will be massively heavy when done, but it will settle down on the suspension quite nicely, which will make all the more realistic looking! Thanks for watching!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Garey |

Wooooooooow. Phantastic work your showing Garey. I followed your F40 build with lots of intrest , but man this is really another piece of work.
I can only sit in awe and drool all over my keyboard in view of all this fine work. Think I will start searching for a new hobby, like knitting or so ![]() Keep it up. Mark

Re: 1/8 Scale Scratchbuilt 427 AC Cobra
So I got all the brackets done except for the emergency brake bracket and 2 little tabs, similar to the ones on the front shock towers, that go in the rear, so I proclaim the chassis done! Whew!!! Now time for clean up and planning for the next stage in the build... I couldn't resist bending up a rollbar hoop and bolting it to the chassis, since I had gotten the one rollbar mounting bracket done. For all you Cobra buffs out there, the rollbar is sitting at the required 15 degrees rearward lean angle, just in case you were wondering, Lol! Enjoy...

Re: 1/8 Scale Scratchbuilt 427 AC Cobra
It's been a while since I posted, had a touch of a cold this week. Worked alot today, though and got a good bit done. I was able to get all of the square tubing framework done in the rear, got the main hoop done and the floor supports and lower side tubes done also. Still a ways to go, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for the frame, though. Sorry the solder joints are not dressed...Enjoy the pics!!!
