Two reasosn for the jump in HP:
- New Hemi layout adds more top end power
- 10 throttle bodies add 120 HP and 1,700 rpm to the red line. This is an example of just how underrated and choked off the Viper engines are. The race cars do over 800 HP and 900 lb-ft of torque normally aspirated.

If you love the Diablo's you better have deep pockets to service them. If you had to buy a Lambo, buy a Murci or Gallardo. The difference between the older Lambo's and the new ones? The 10,000 mile tune up on a Diablo goers for $29,000 versus the Murci's 30,000 mile tune up is $1,500. The math isn't hard to do...

On top of this, the Murci and Gallardo's chassis and suspensions are far superior to the Diablo's. Audi did a kick a$$ job in designing the new Lambo's.

D-man:

It's always good to dream and set high goals for yourself. Diablo's are beautiful cars, but because I drive my cars frequently it wouldn't be practical.

Keep going after those dreams, take a few risks and sacrifice those un-needed trappings and you'll have one of those Diablos before you know it.

I wouldn't buy any of them until you got some formal road course experience in a good performance driving school. These carsare completely different from your Camaro. They are in their element when pulling high-G's through the turns. If you want to drag race these cars, save your money and stay with the Camaro.

JMO.

Re: why viper?

It's a waste of a car if all you do is drve it on the street. This beast is really in its element on a road racing course. If you love the car by just driving it on the street, then you will bow down and kiss the feet of the designers when you do a track day.

I've done over 30 track days in the 7 years.

No offense Diablo, but your thought process is a little messed up. You'll never get good enough driving a Viper UNLESS you go to track school. The bozo's who only drive them on the street rarely lack the knowledge or talent to drive them on the track because of their falsely inflated ego's.

Abuse is relative Diablo. Driving a car in stop and go traffic is sometimes more abusive to a high performance car than tracking it. Vipers were made to be run on the track and just get by as a street car. These cars can take lots of beating. Don't be fooled into thinking that just because the Vipers can run and abuse the high strung and delicate Italian exotics, that they are also as delicate. I have spoken to several engineers on Team Viper and these engines are bullet proof.

JMO... fire away!

It depends on where you go for it. I have a couple friedns who are pro drivers that can give a private lesson for a day and it would be quite a bit less than what you are stating. Come on out to CA and I can set you up.

Whatever the price it is well worth it and will outperform any mod that you can think of.

If one of them is running Viper Days in your neighborhood, maybe he can come in a day early and do a session with you. Just a thought when you get your Snake...
