Re: Die Töpless Triö Rides Again! Porsche 356 Group Büild

Forgot to mention another thing: since I scratchbuilt a brass windshield surround with acecetate "glass", I filled the gap leaved by the body and the dashboard, later I'll spray the upper part of DB with "interior color"
(TBH I'm in chrisis defining this interior color: would be tha same for dashboard, seat, canvas cover: I'm wondering if a good combo with the Ruby may be a white/magnolia interiors, may be with blue seat -do you meant those 50/60' seats color? they was done with the same textile as mechanics suits... cool..- or "flying down" with a dark grey/ruby combo... or even Tan/Ruby?.... My God I must do ton of 356 now!

Re: Die Töpless Triö Rides Again! Porsche 356 Group Büild

Forgot one last thing: you'll see that I cut out any trim from the body, in fact I'll use my PE for chrome trims. To help the process I drill 2 small (0.35 mm diam) holes in any trim's start/end before cut them: this is why you'll see few holes elsewhere in the body

What a killer paint job. Magnificient patience ... 12 layers of color before starting the final wet coats??? Pure italian resilience. I envy that!

It just looks fantastic!

Re: Die Töpless Triö Rides Again! Porsche 356 Group Büild

Thanks guys: done a quick polishing job, it need more patience for sure: anyway I wanted to start to share first PE jobs. PE are polished with MicroMesh and stick until 12K, than glued with 3M spray glue. Some spot was reinforced with thinned white glue. Back grill not glued yet. Sorry for picts but is very hard to have great focus on chrome parts, at least with my camera.

Outside..

In the workshop

And a close up of the canvas cover: painted with maroon, covered by sand, both Vallejo air.

What a bella Fraeulein!

The color is delicious and the p/e looks first class!!

I am wondering though what secret plan you have for the little round plug in front of the rear wheel arch?
I think it's supposed to be body color and the fit on mine was pretty crap so I installed it straight away before any primer / paint as a precaution (maybe I was over cautious? )

Re: Die Töpless Triö Rides Again! Porsche 356 Group Büild

From the start of the job on the marvellous 356 I thought how to improove a stand alone flat4: following the very first prototype of a study to do cooling fins by PE: they're scale thickness thickness (fins thick 0.1mm, spacers 0.2mm) and in the correct number: still some "last detail" to add like aspiration/exaust ports. They're 62 fins and spacers for any side!
