Re: Three Skylines Generations Project W.I.P

How is it? I had heard reports that the body wasn't accurate.

Re: Three Skylines Generations Project W.I.P

It isn't as accurate compared to Tamiya or Fujimi, but it's decent for the price. I haven't had big problems with it so far.

Re: Three Skylines Generations Project W.I.P

I should apologize, by flat clear I was thinking and not typing about Microscale Micro Flat. It is very gentle, water based, and it can help with adhesive as I mentioned.

I do agree that spray coat flat would not be a good method for what I was describing.

What really works for me as well, is a hot wet cloth. Hairdryer is another choice of many modellers. Just don't hold close to the model for too long, give it short bursts of hot air.

As far as the wheels, i would've chosen a different set. They look a little too small for that beast. Color combo is nice. Nice job on the r34 rebuild. From looking at your earlier builds, you have been getting alot better. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the comments! I do try to improve at every build.

Re: Three Skylines Generations Project W.I.P

Hey all, I just started on this project again after a busy year. I'll post up some updated pics later tonight. I'm waiting on my new Dremel kit in the mail so that I can start on my Onevia build.

Re: Three Skylines Generations Project W.I.P

Whoo! Finally got this blasted R31 done. Not too proud of it, but at least it's done. Too many problems with this kit so I will probably end up getting another R31 GTS-R to build soon for this group build.

Re: Three Skylines Generations Project W.I.P

Dude. The R31 is good, but let me be real with you: The only reason it doesn't look great is because it is incomplete. Bust out the tape and a sharpie or some black paint and hit the panels and door lines and finish the 1/4 window trim. Pop the head lights off and get the edges with silver or black to make them look sealed, then finish the tail light center part. All that should take you about an hour and it will look like the bees knees.

Re: Three Skylines Generations Project W.I.P

^ Yeah, I'll take that into consideration. The R35 GT-R is almost done! The headlights needs to be installed and some polishing.

I take it that was sarcasm? If not, please tell me what was harsh? I don't think it could have been nicer if I put powdered sugar on it. I was simply being honest and encouraging further effort and construction via suggestions.

Re: Three Skylines Generations Project W.I.P

My suggestion for the R35 would be to maybe blend in the exhaust staining a bit more. The bit over the catalytic converters looks good to me but that splodge on the bend just a bit further down the pipe looks too overdone.

If you can use something like Tamiya's weathering set and spread it out more or apply it on lighter next time. Same for where you've done orange and blue. Just looks a little too heavy.

I like Mojo_stevo's comment...quick, constructive, to the point and encouraging.

Re: Three Skylines Generations Project W.I.P

Hey nice work, the front bumper area looks less appealing than the rest of the car... but considering how steady your hand has to be when doing that chrome band, it's not too bad.

Are you using acrylic or enamel based paints when doing details with the brush?
