Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious... Part 2

Rims arrived and might I say, they are better than I imagined. Hopefully the paint doesn't ruin the detail.

For anyone that uses Shapeways, what is the liquid coming out of the inside of the rim? and how should I prep for paint? Thanks for looking.

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious... Part 2

That wheels look nice. Handle with care, because the material is brittle, and the spoke can break easily during dry fitting. (Speaking from my mistake!)
Every time I get my data printed by Shapeways, the parts always arrived dry, so I don't know why yours was wet.
When printing a part with some fragile feature, the printer fill the blank space with a support material, which can be dissolved in some kind of liquid, typically water, but can a special solution designed for the printer.

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious... Part 2

The "wet" material is the support material used in printing and washed away at the end of the process. It leaves a waxy residue on there. I have soaked mine in goof off, not for too long, and also some Wesley's Bleach White will do the trick or any degreaser. I would suggest degreaser combined with some light careful scrubbing with a toothbrush.

Looking good!
Andy

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious... Part 2

Winter here sucks....no painting for a while. I ordered a set of belts from Media Mix Hobby and they finally arrived with other sets for other kits. Anyways, I built the 4 pt style I believe is installed on the car on the movie out of a 5pt harness kit. THe webbing is 2mm silk ribbon for embroidery.

I still need to make all the silver black and put the belt in the car. THe Rims are also installed.

Hoped to get more done than this, but mother nature is a B....

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious... Part 2

Seat is finally done. Had a bit of trouble and had to start over. But The result is very satisfying.

Behind the seat attached the the roll bar

and 1 other shot. just love the way it turned out.

Hopefully now I can turn my attention to other parts. Decals and painting are about all I have left to do.

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious... Part 2

Finally a bit of warm weather to get some things done. Got the stripes masked and sprayed. Still working on printing the decals. Here's a few pics to keep anyone interested.

Don't mind the tape as this was taken right after de-masking. not much left after this. Sponsor decals, minor details and hopefully this can be put in the finished pile and take lots of pics.

Re: 2 Fast 2 Furious... Part 2

A couple more pics. I have all the clear parts drying and mesh drying as well. Won't be long until I can show the completed kit and surprise.
I made the screen and gauge as decals and had a few more but they did not turn out so they were painted silver.
