Yep. Also the WRC 307 has something. Andy: those compressor (I mean Nic's picts) seems just the stock one. Looks like the power stealed is well spent in therms of customer satisfaction

Isn't there a new regulation that all Le Mans cars must have a functioning air conditioner...I think this started in 2007 ?

Re: MFH Ferrari F40 GTE IGOL Monza 96

Ok, another little update on this puppy. Progress is slow, cause I'm doing a bunch of testing and designing templates for C/F - and there is a lot of C/F on this car! But before any carbon could be applied i had to prepare the parts. Most white metal parts were so bad that even after thorough sanding they were not good enough for primer. I had to fill the surface almost completely on all flat parts! Lots of sanding afterwards... but I was satisfied with gray primer coat - nice and smooth. Hard work paid off.

Then parts were painted with semigloss black, decaled with Crazy Modeler and KA Models carbon, and clearcoated. Rear diffuser was also detailed with heat-shielding, visible part of the gas tank was also detailed with BMF on the chassis.

Exhausts, manifolds, and turbos were cleaned, painted and weathered. Intercoolers and intake were painted with Alclad aluminum. Parts of the chassis were detailed with some heat shielding, and engine test-fitted on its place.

Next were wheels: Rubber was scuffed and sanded, center spokes were cleaned and primed with metal primer. I also pre-drilled them for Sakatsu valves. Then wheels centers were painted with Alclad aluminum, and clearcoated. Finally, everything was assembled, detailed, and decaled.

Finally - brakes! These were quite tricky! I decided to rework them to make the wheels removable, so center hubs were drilled through, and then clamped to my Dremel for some turning -mostly to clean up. Second picture shows cleaned parts next to one uncleaned - I think the result is much better. the disks themselves were assembled, and mounted on the centers. Then I threaded the centers, and screwed in some threaded rod + tiny nut. This will allow to remove wheels after model assembly. Finally, brakes and calipers were masked, painted, decaled, and assembled. That is all for now - suspension and engine detailing are next!

Thanks for looking! Alex

Very Nice!

Wondering, you all seem so sure its a AC Compressor, why not a Dry Sump Oil Pump? Just throwing that out there....

HOT DAMN!!!! Sensational stuff - those pics speak a thousand words. You could put the chassis alone in a display cabinet and charge admission

Re: MFH Ferrari F40 GTE IGOL Monza 96

This is just plain unbelievable.
Really, really impressive. The brakes, the wheels (although, shame about the small dent in the bottom-right one), the undertray. All looking very smooth and real...

I cannot wait to see the complete car !!!

Superb job Alex. Chassis finishing after primer is really impressive: great job you did, as per brakes and engine, fabulous.

Re: MFH Ferrari F40 GTE IGOL Monza 96

Great work Alex, I have a question, is that Alclad on the calipers and are they washed or drybrushed and with which color?

They look amazingly real.
