A turbo is technically a "bolt-on" part. The car no longer remains naturally aspired. The way UnderEstimate Me
worded his question my car counts b/c it has bolt-on parts.

Re: Performance upgrades

Ok I can see that. Its not like thats proving anything though. You are just making it look more like an na 420a cant make the power by showing me that having a turbo strapped onto one only gets it to 188hp.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if thats on stock internals and only 10 psi IMO thats pretty good. It makes the same if not a little more than a stock GST/GSX. Good luck upping the 420A N/A that high. Without nitrous anyway.

Re: Performance upgrades

What should happen is in the spring this thread should be reserected from the grave of the lost threads and someone should post a near stock 420A Eclipse once they get it dyno'd. Then someone should post there most heavily modified 420A NA. Then we will know until then why can't we all just get along.

Re: Performance upgrades

My 420a also put down 188whp with fucked up rings. You could get about 220whp or so out of them stock.

FUCK!!

Let it die. If you really want dyno charts that bad I'll get some in the spring when it dries up and I take the car back out.

Re: Performance upgrades

Alright that sounds good. I was just under the impression that this was a common feat with the engine so I figured they would be all over the intra-net.

But this will be like our own little science experiment.

Re: Performance upgrades

Here's a guy at 2gnt.com that pulled 134 at the wheels on a GS with simple bolt ons. (I,H,E) I wish he would have copied and pasted the dyno chart to see the power curve, but meh, whatever. Now with a decent set of cams & gears (still considered bolt-on), a bored TB, and a nice port job, I see no problem gaining another 26 hp.

Re: Performance upgrades

It will be fine to let you know how much power your putting out. I am curious to. I would tune my car on it though. From what I have read. Any dyno that doesn't simulate the car driving on the road (Add resistance to the rollers) is bad for tuning, since you will run really lean when you actually test it on the street.

15hp doesnt seem too far-fetched for those mods, but Im not sure if the cams, gears, etc would give a 26hp boost. I could be wrong. Like I said, i dont know much about these motors.

Re: Performance upgrades

Depending on the car, supporting mods, etc, etc, etc, cams/gears can either make or break a setup. We all know that no car will run the same even with the same mods, but one car with simple mods, a set of cams/gears could completely ruin the power curve, but a car with more extensive mods (ported intake/exhaust, bored tb, tuning, fuel) could have a very nice gain.

Damnit guys, now you've made me more interested than ever to see what my car has. I'll definitely get it dyno'd before I sell it in the spring.

I think the website said my 272's were a drop in 35hp to the wheels. Not sure how much I actually got from them, but I doubt it was that much. It all depends on your setup. The more you have to start with and the more you push it, the more you are going to get out of them.
