i know lexus has this option,but i thought it was only available in japan with this option (i think).

either way, it will be a product that only old people and bad drivers will pay for. i can see it now. how many lawsuits will develop baacause -insert name- from -insert small town- thought that the system was fully automatic, and ended up backing into someone because he never hit the brakes.
kinda like when cruise control first came out, and all the sudden there were myths of people who set the cruise control and went to sleep, then crashed and killed 4 people and created a 26 car pileup.

Lexus LS460 (aka the LS..) Brand new. Self parking system. Never even heard of Lincoln doing self park. And i wouldnt trust it as far as i could throw it to boot, considering Ford is good at screwing things up.

ive heard that there is a lexus that self parks, but it is only in japan.

No, its an option in the U.S. And there is no lincoln that parks itself. This technology is brand new and exclusive to Lexus.

and its still creepy to have a car park for me.
also, the same car has an 8 SPEED automatic tranny.
WTF do you need 8 speeds for. just a question.

i am not against all automotive progress, but come on.
8 speed tranny, 5 blade razor...
it just seem excessive

Mainly because the competition have 7 speed automatics.

No matter how dumb the customer may be, chances are they'll be able to count.

someone on this forum once said that usually, a 7 or 8 speed tranny was really just a 4 speed that used the TC locking as another gear.
1 + slip = 1
1 locked = 2
2 + slip = 3
2 locked = 4
3 + slip = 5
3 locked = 6
ect...

is this true?
seems like BS to me.

8 speeds means you're in your powerband more. I think its a waste too, but with BMW making a racket aobut their 7-speed tranny a couple years back someone had to go out and one-up them.

Wait till you see the LS600hL. Sick sick sick.

Too bad lexus (toyota in general) styling is about as exciting as watching paint dry.
