Re: 40 ford wagon resto
Thanks for the awesome feedback, gang.
Klutz-It's not totally freehand. I cut out sections of frisket paper and using this mask I cut from a cigarette package, I fill in each section. ![]() I'm using automotive paint here and there is a limit as how small I can as for very fine work its too grainy. ![]() Almost done with the airbrushing. I have started to pick out details with a paintbrush and later I will blend and soften some edges with the AB. For the final stage I will bring out the eyes and nose and whatever needs attention. For very fine work Im used to being able touch the work with my hand for steadiness but no matter how I tried to attach the body to my stand, it always moves around and is getting scratched but I think I got the hang of it now. Malscar-thanks for the pics, I have those already and my first idea was to paint her in her civies but I figured no one would know who she was, but I think thats the one going on the other side. Yep, thats why its black and purple, lol. Tigeraid-it would be far simple to make a painting and have a decal made from it, and I might consider this in the future, but I just wanted to have fun with this, althou its a little tougher then I thought it would be. Thanks for visiting, gang Les

Re: 40 ford wagon resto
Les, as far as I am concerned, that's freehand!!
![]() I am truly impressed with your skill with an AB this restoration project really is turning into something quite unique and special. In fact you ought to think about submitting it to a magazine when you have finished IMHO.On a new project I am starting, I was even thinking of trying to freehand some stuff onto the body but I guess I need to re-think that one now - particularly after the "seaweed" caper

Looks awesome, the chassis with the brake lines and everything is amazing... I also really like the airbrushing, looks great.

Re: 40 ford wagon resto
Thank you everyone,
Just a little update here. I decided a background would add more to the picture and was planning on a cityscape for this. But in the end I thought it didnt really suit her so I had a look in my comics for ideas and went for more of an abstract high-tech look. Still working on it but should be done and starting the other side tomorrow. ![]() Thanks again for looking, gang. Les

Re: 40 ford wagon resto
awwww VERY cool. I might have to steal your idea and put Jean Grey on a model now! I used to dabble in comic book art as well, but gave up due to hand cramps.
Fantastic progress. |

Re: 40 ford wagon resto
Now that is cool! I thought the patterns on some lowrider mdoels were sweet but a whole mural like that is just awesome! The only other mural that big that I've sen was Marvin the Martian on the hood of a crazy lowrider model in an issue of Scale Auto.
Top notch build mate. |
