Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress

I am sure that Mathew will replace these should they be from a bad batch. But it really sucks when your into a build and making oprogress and these sort of things happen. Bummer, but please dont lose faith, this build is going to be awesome!

Bummer, sorry to see that happen, and nothing more annoying.
Hope you get it sorted.

Jesus, that's a lot of hard work, but looks like it'll be worth it.

Looks great bummmer bout that piece my sheets keep on doing that. Just wondering do the body pieces come templated as you show making a new template on your site?

It's originally templated, but the replacement sheets I got wasn't, so I need to make my own half of the time.

One thing you might want to do that has helped me in the past is make a scan of the templates. I do that in case I mess up one of the pieces. I can easily print out another set of the templates and use some extra decals. I also do this in case I want to try a different companies CF on some areas.

Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress

From my experience with SMS templates it is best to make your own to suit your style. I find they tend to build a lot of "overhang" into their shapes. I prefer a much closer tolerance. But that's just me.

Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress

I finally received the replacement decals to continue the project. The Supplied SMS decal had serious problem and I had to put on hold the model. Luckily, SMS support is great and I received a new sheets freely.

So here is a picture of the hood and front bumper. It was much harder than I was thinking to apply the carbon over the hood. Very tricky air vent.

Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress

Here is a picture of the completed body. I still have few part to do with carbon (side and wing) but the main body is finally done ! Quite a task to do but I think it was worth it. There is few flaw, but overall I'm happy.
I will let it dry fully and then cover it with Satin clear.
