I agree with the guys about the cleaner contributing to the problem. The gas in the oil would have caused lots of damage, but the cleaner didn't help anything. It only further diluted the gas impregnated oil to the point that it couldn't provide proper protection. Seafoam has been used successfully, by a lot of people. Other's have had bad experiences with it. (I remember BLT complaining that all the trash that it cleaned out fouled his plugs) You have to be careful what you put in your engine. There are a lot of addititives out there that are bad for your engine. Take for example products containing Teflon, Teflon is bad for your engine and DuPont has even said not to use it in engines, but many makers of engine additives use it anyway. Bottom line is buyer beware, those companies don't make those products to help you, their main goal is to make money. Their mentality is that they want to make money and if they make a product that actually works.... even better. This doesn't mean to shy away from all additives though, some (like Techron) can be very useful.

Yes, you are right, it probably didn't help the damage much.

Well crap, I have the car back.

The mechanic said he wasn't sure but that a couple of the 'ports' were almost completly closed off. I don't know if that could have been cleaned and repaired but it doesn't matter now. I had a dyno tested and verified used engine put in instead. (No need for comments as that is all in the past now, there is no going back).

That said, I appreciate all the support I received while trying to track that problem. I now I have a new problem that I will begin a new thread on if I can't resolve it from reading these forums.

The engine seemed to be running great....however it seems to sputter while accelerating and or slightly jerking when at cruising speeds on open road...

Yes, the mechanic is willing to work with me on it and has already suggested the MAF sensor may be the culprit. I don't hold him to the fire on any of this as I feel the engine is in great shape, now I have to trace the other items that were not replaced and hopefully find a fix.

I unhooked the MAF sensor and the problem didn't really go away. Does the MAF work with and without the sensor being plugged in? Of course it threw the code while it was unplugged, otherwise there are no codes being thrown. Just a jerky feeling at cruising, and a sputtering when accelerating, not all the time, but it's there.

I will start a new thread on that subject though in a few days if I can't solve this problem as I said.
