Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

You need to get the TR55 IX - those are the Iridium ones. Lots of GA'ers have had those, including myself, and we love em. - never heard anything bad about them or had any problems with them.

If you're going to get wires to go with those, (which you should) - I would reccomend MSD 8 mm or 8.5 mm - both are sold by doctorspeed (www.doctorspeed.com)

I have MSD 8 mm wires w/ the NGK Iridium TR55IX's, and the setup is a great combo. Those wires and plugs ran much smoother and stronger then my stockers.

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

lol no prob meti.

As far as the intake resonator, it's really easy. I did mine myself in about 15 minutes. There's actually instructions online at here:

http://www.n-body.net/tech/techdisplay.php?id=11','750','500

Reading it at first might make it seem harder then it is, but it's not. And you don't really need to buy those fasteners they talk about either - as long as you don't break a shitload of them you should be alright.

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

check out that link u gave me....what is that silver metal below the resonator, its kinda to the bottom right and has few color tiny cables going to ir!
what is it? My car does not have that!!! I am wondering what it is.

so now I can put the cone filter in the place of the resonator and link it with a tube to the intake, correct?

Man I thought it was going to be easy but the headlight was a bitch and floor all wet and mudy from snow in garage, my mom's impala in the garage too so i didnt have much room but it all went well I guess lol
thanks!

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

I'm pretty sure that is just the pump unit for the windshield washer fluid jug. It's a weird picture from a weird angle, so it's probably hard to see it on yours.

Well I thought you were just going to put the cone filter on where the air box is? That's what I would do. Just make it a short-ram setup like mine. Here's those pics of mine that I said I was gonna take:

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

I like your setup and yes thats what I ment to say but is it possible to put your cone filter where the resonator was? i mean only in dry weathers so it wont get wet but nevermind I like your setup and thats what my first idea was!!!

what is your third picture? I see a tube in the wheel well? I dont get it...is it so when tire moves it circulates air into the tube?
thanks,
Meti

did you also take out Ram Air plastic tubing in the front? I think I am goign to take mine out and just let the ram air holes deliver air to engine straight!

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

That tube is just showing where one of my cold air tubes goes outside. See, I have too cold air lines coming up to filter, one goes out to front fascia lip, the other goes out into the wheel well where the colder air is.

And yeh, I took out my ram air tubing. It lets air blow straight at the intake manifold that way.

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

Awesome meti! now we're talkin! lol - u gotta get some pics on here of that stuff.

As far as the Service engine soon light, go to a place like Autozone, AdvanceAuto, Pepboys, ect. and have them read your codes. Most places will do it for free. Get the code read, and write down what it is, and then we'll see what we can do.

Re: Ga Gt 2001 Ecu...

i would also recomend getting you car read at autozone my service engine light came on not to long ago so i ran it down there and it said that my engine was running rich in which case i cleaned my filter and put in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner, my light shut off shortly , at least you will have an idea of what to do if you get it read
by the way thanks for the pics starting to wonder if you were going to post them, just a thought have you thought about replacing the section between the throttle body and air flow sensor, just wondering since you pulled out the screen you'd get smother air flow by running a stright cupling in there.
