I'm glad I've done my service, and am too old, and my sons are too young for me to worry about even the possibility of a draft.


As much as I think service is a good forging-ground for a decent citizen/person, and I will be encouraging my sons to pursue the military (eventually), even for a short while, I respect the freedom of other parents to choose not to do this.

Thank you for your service. That never gets said and I wanted to say it.

And I agree with you on the rest of your post even thought there never will be a draft in the near future. My son turns 18 in Feb of 2005.
