Re: Need Help turboing
Yeah I understand hotbegel, I wasn't offended. I need to be reminded every so often where I am posting, as I'm a regular on 4 forums.. it all kinda blends together after a while.
YellowITR: Sure. I personally havent used it before but I know several people who blend toluene and whatever grade gasoline to get higher octane. To figure out your octane its simple percentage math.. A 50/50 mix of toluene and 93 octane would give .5 * 93 +.5 * 114 = 103.5 octane. You can pick up Toluene at your local paint supply store, I believe it is used as a paint thinner. Just look around in the Solvent section of your local Benjamin Moore or whatever, look on the cans for 'toluene' and you've found it. Last time I checked it was around $3-7 for a gallon, depending on how much you buy. I suggest getting a 1 gallon can at a paint store or hardware store and mixing it with like 9 gallons or so of premium. That'll give you 95.1 octane... If you notice a difference, try adding more. You'll figure out what suits you best. When I get my new motor together I'll probably try a tank or two enhanced with toluene. http://elektro.cmhnet.org/~charlie/p...i/toluene.html By the way, octane booster is a waste of money. I'd never buy octane booster... yay i spent 5 bucks to bump my octane rating from 93 to 93.3.... |

Re: Need Help turboing
hahaha yup . . . I have ehard that toluene is one of the main ingredients in gas and will bump your octane up nicely. I have to say that I don't see a noticable difference using octane booster . . . . I usr the injector cleaner or fuel treatment here and there and that has worked, but other then that I want to try toluene and see what kinda magic it will do for me. Pulled my spark plugs the other day and theyw ere red. Red is a sign of poor additives in the fuel which leads me to believe maybe I got a bad tank of gas or soemthing and it was 92 octane too! My car is cutting out power real bad and I mean performance power not electrical power . . . . it's like I had my foot 50% down on the throttle and my car barely would stay alive, so getting home was a biotch the other night.
