jonnyboy isnt even worth any of our time, just ignore that dumb ass he obviously doesnt know shit
buddy you dont just buy a procharger for 5800 and expect to put it in your car and make it run 1400 HP or w/e you dream about without moddifing your whole engine so it can actually withstand that much power...thats THOUSANDS of dollars

i'm just saying that there are a lot of upgrades that would go along with the blower, but parts for a chevy motor are really cheap

Who runs 10.1:1 compression with 38 psi of boost? That spell disaster to me, even if you run strictly race gas, which is hardly practical. You need low compression pistons, dude. And many suspension mods will be required in order to put down that much power, or you'll spin your tires forever. Dyno tuning will cost you $$. You'll need larger injectors and fuel pump to supply the needed amount of fuel. You'll need an intercooler of some sort to prevent knock and run boost of that amount. You will need some sort of engine management system for fine tuning, and you will probably need a larger radiator, as your engine and related components will be subject to much higher temperatures....
That'll put you over your $5800 price quote, man. I like your ride, its just that your views need to change or the flaming will continue. 1400hp is obtainable; however, you will need much more than engine goodies to reach that (lofty) goal. Why do these always turn into Import vs. Domestic flamewars? That's bullshit, guys...

Re: took out a kid at my shcool
so now your 383 makes 502hp?
but what happened to the 385 hp? this is getting stupid, again. i'm sorry, but you're going to have to be really careful with what you're saying about a car that i have intimate knowledge about. it's no trick to go to some site and quote what parts are in your motor. i'm just confused as to why you're quoting all these crazy things you don't have... so regroup, b/c i'm backing you, and go through everything you've said... b/c you're making less sense the more you post... so just clarify |

Re: took out a kid at my shcool
right...
i know all of that, which is what i asked him to clarify, which is what you just clarified... assuming that his setup DOES exist, which, for now, is getting the benefit of the doubt from me. |

Re: took out a kid at my shcool
Still though you guys are fighting a losing battle. Even if he spends another 5grand on parts hes still got everyone beat. I mean im not a V8 lover (I like all cars) but you got to give V8s credit...they make more power for the money. So just except it

Re: took out a kid at my shcool
yeah thats all i can do is give him the benefit of the doubt also. i know that 1400HP is posible. but i also know what else will need to come along with it for it to work. for 5800 bucks you might have a engine and super sitting in your garage that is capable of making 1400HP. but what about your trans, rearend, driveshaft and u-joints, drive shaft loop, motor mounts, tires, hell rims for that matter, brakes, wheel studs and lug nuts, ignition to run everything corretly as previously stated, your car must be in complete working order (like front tire rod ends, and all your stearing stuff), all your body bushings need to be good along with the control arm bushings, and not to mention the body and chassie, and if you ever plan on running it at the track you still need more things like a cage, and with that much power if you dont have one i think your just nuts, especialy on a car like a nova. do you have sub frame connectors? cuz if not you are going to rip the front clip off the rest of the car. with the engine you have you should already have them though. now what about your suspencion. that is going to need lots of work too. and yet that are still many many things that i havnt mentioned that will need to be adressed before you can run that car. i uderstand you know you can get this much power from that engine and that super but the reality of it is, its not as easy or cheep as you think is going to be. if you get that engine and the super its not going to last very long. on that much boots with that enigne you might get two runs down a track and then its going to need work. the nova you put up the link for on in one of your posts has been built and worked on in one of the magazines i read. and the spacific day the were out running it in vagas that the picutere you saw came from do you know how many runs they made? i think they made like 2 or 3 runs and even they had a probelm. and they have enough money on hand that they can probably build 10 of those cars. so you know they put alot more money in it that you will, and yet they still had probelms. your talking about doing stuff that pro's spend thousands of dollars on the tuning alone before it even hits the streets. the reason you dont see very many cars like your wanting to build is because its not reasonable. most prople build cars for the street and a car like that is not a good chice to ever see the street. it can be done but who wants to drive there car to lunch one day and then as soon as they get home rip into the engine. who wants to do that. if your planning on a drag only car and have thousads of dollars sitting around to fix it and maintain it then i say go for it. but if you want a street car or something like that then hell you would probably be happy with just that 383. you dont know what 500HP feels like comparted to your 385. and even at 500HP you still have to do just about everything i mentioned above to get your car to stay together and work. (not trying to be mean so dont take it that way) but, honestly the best way i can put it is, get real. you gotta wake up. i mean you could do it yeah, but your looking at probably somewhere around 15-20,000 as oposed to your 5,800. and just for the fun of it you should call up that place that builds that 383 you want. ask them if it will stand up to 1400HP with 38, or 31 whatever it was, pounds of boots. i garante you they will say no and probably be laughing about it when you hang up. dont mean to burst your bubble and i would love for you to proove me wrong cuz i think it would be a bad ass car, by actualy building the car not saying that you can because im well aware of what can be done, and then let me know and i will drive the hour or so to come see it.
