Re: What ford stands for

I dont see many car companies that manufacture a 13 second 1/4mile car under $30thousand, or another car manufacturer making cars nipping on the Enzo for a fraction of the price. Most Fords(Alpines, Contours, 90's F-150's...)were rough in the 80's and 90's, but Fox body Mustangs were ripping up Vettes. Their trucks are unmatched(except the named few) and really havent had much competition except a Hemi truck(which is it a real hemi-head engine?) here and some Japanese wanna-be's there and Chevy out of the truck picture.

I own a ford and its been sitting in a field for 30 years and its more solid than most import and most domestic cars i see.

Ford has a legendary Mustang to be proud of as its frontrunner, while what does Honda have? FWD Civic in which most find a fartcan up its little exhaust system, Mopar has...a four door car masquerading as a Charger.Subaru has some kickass cars, and them and the Z are the only Japanese cars i have a lot of respect for.
Pontiac, an Australian "american legend" and a FWD 5.3L V8 GXP in which the front wheels are made wider than the rear wheels(oh how innovational), Chevy has one good car, the Vette, the SSR sucks as a replacement for the Camaro. Nice work on suicide GM

So before shoving Ford off with crappy acronyms think of what position some car makers are in

Re: What ford stands for

did you mean the ummm IMPLIES? not improvises? or is that just your word for the day? i would suggest that "suggest" would be a better word than implies, and a much better word than improvises... considering that improvises doesn't make any sense... much like designing a car with the fuel tank round the axle.

Re: What ford stands for

sorry.. above... not behind

With the introduction of subcompact cars in the 1960’s, Volkswagen and Japanese car manufacturers put enormous pressure on domestic manufacturers to compete in the American small-car market. The Ford Motor Company (FoMoCo) responded to this import invasion by introducing a new model, called the Pinto, in order to reclaim a large portion of the auto sales in the United States. The Pinto was rushed into production in almost half of the regular time required to develop a new automobile. Prior to production, Ford engineers discovered a major safety hazard on the Pinto: If the car was rear-ended at a speed of 30 miles per hour, the fuel tank would rupture and spill gasoline all over the road around the car. This was discovered only after the assembly-line machines were tooled. It was determined that the cost to change the assembly line would render a huge profit loss for Ford. As a direct result of Ford’s decision to build the Pinto despite its safety problems, several hundred people died or were seriously injured.

Re: What ford stands for

honda's weren't made to be anything special either
and besdes, what kind of power does that honda make? To outrun a Mustang you'd need a pretty good power/weight ratio and some good gearing(unless you raced a 74-83 stang)

the reason im a ford guy and not a "ricer"(i dont like that word) is because i dont like four-cylinders(i like low end torque and there is no replacement for displacement), i hate the sound of em, stuff like that. Im a muscle car guy, not just a mustang guy, i like ford mavericks, falcons, galaxies, fairlanes, dodge dusters, challengers, coronets, etc...RWD V8 cars

well i'm putting down about 150ish to the wheels, and with the car being gutted it weighs close to 2000 pounds so its a good power to weight ratio and hauls ass, and besides, this car has a wicked power band on it, and has lots of low end, mid, and high end torque

Re: What ford stands for

not bad, its hard to get a lot of low end from a fourcylinder, stock my engine makes about 280(stock 390 which im just starting to build),but those are just estimates to start with, course the car im puttin it in wheighs 3700 lbs, so im gonna do a lot to the 390
