That being said, according to Car and Driver, the CTS-V w/6-sp manual tested as follows: 0-60 in 4.8 1/4 in 13.2@109 Stock EVO 8 vs stock CTS-V, 0-60 should be close, the 1/4 might be tough. on 91 oct gas, the stock EVO will have a hard time. On 93 oct gas the EVO will have a better shot. In any case, you'd have to beat the clutch on the EVO to be close. On the other hand, on any type of road course, the EVO would eat the CTS-V for lunch. |

And out on the road from a 40 MPH roll the EVO would be left far behind. |

Re: EVO 8 VS 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1
Speaking as an owner of an EVO that has driven a CTS-V on a couple of road courses. I will eat my word the day a stock 04 CTS-V beats a stock 04 EVO 8 on a road course by similar drivers. BTW, NASCAR oval is not my idea of a road course.
I'm not saying the CTS-V has a poorly designed chassis, to the contrary, I think the CTS’s suspension design is extremely well thought out and with minor suspension upgrades, the CTS-V can be made to be competitive even on a road course. But stock, it doesn't have much of a chance against an EVO or any other high performance vehicle 700 lbs lighter. In stock form, the EVO out brake and out transition the CTS-V on any road course I can think of. Here’s a few number from Car & Driver 0-60 / ¼ (sec) EVO 8 5.0 / 13.6 CTS-V 5.2 / 13.7 Braking 70-0 (ft) EVO 8 157 CTS-V 165 Road-holding (g) EVO 8 .90 CTS-V .90 These test numbers look close on it’s own, but on the tract, it’s not close at all. On the “street” course, it was night and day, driving the CTS-V felt like a driving a 4-yo Camero or Mustang, the Caddy under-steered badly, The fastest way around required me power sliding the Caddy out of every other turn. I was a little surprised at how much slower I was in the Caddy. On the high-speed course, the EVO was still faster then the CTS-V on every turn and every straight, in the EVO, I was hitting 120+ in the long straight, I wasn’t close to that in the CTS-V, I just couldn’t put the power down as early in the Caddy, and I had to brake earlier to settle the chassis going into the high-speed turn. The EVO felt buttoned down, the CTS-V didn’t. The EVO’s quick steering helped also. |

Right, and just where did you conduct this high speed test? Sounds like a BS story to me. |

Your lack of respect and knowledge is amazing. IMO, you should stick with the 1/4. Regarding the track, if look at me profile and a do little research, you will find out there is only one road course track within 2 hours of me. |

Re: EVO 8 VS 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1
i think that some people look at number's and think that because one car is .02 faster then one car to another that car is slow or something. .02 is nothing . the evo is at the top of the list when it comes to handling everytime against any car i think the only car it has not been up agianst is an indy race car, lol ,,, 10.5 your right in away someone could just put shit up here, but some people actually do research or may test cars on road coarse's

Re: EVO 8 VS 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1
10.5sec92AWDTALON , I’m not sure if I should be pissed or just feel sorry for you. You make it sound as if driving a car on a high speed track is some huge deal reserved only for race car drivers and magazine editors. Nothing is further from the truth.
Willow Springs is the only race track I’ve driven on, it’s about 2 hours north of me. It has both a tight track called the Streets of Willow and the high speed Willow Springs racetrack. Various car clubs have track days about every other week. Most clubs rent the track and allow the general public to sign up for track time through them. It usually only cost around $120 per day to sign up, so for a few bucks more then what most people pay for checking out their car on a dyno you can push your car and skill to the limit safely and legally for a whole day. I don’t know about you; although both are useful, I would much rather drive my car near the limits for 5+ 4-lap runs then a few dyno runs for my time and money. I’m sure you can imagine, during these events we see lots of amazing high performance cars and a few not so high performance cars. Some are almost brand new off of the showroom floor and some are classic muscle cars from the 60’s. A hand full of us exchange cars during the event if the other driver looked competent and we each wanted to try out the other’s car. BTW, I consider myself a fairly average driver compared to these guys that race all the time. So far, my favorite is a lightly modified Corvette Z06 owned by a driving instructor friend of mine. Regarding prove, I don’t have any. However, I just got myself an excellent digital camera over the weekend. So, the best I can do is to take pictures during the next track day I take part in and put up a sign of what I think of you on various vehicles at the track and posting the photos. However, it’s the rainy season here in So Cal (a whole 15” over 4 months, LOL) so it might be April before the next successful track day. |
