Updates:

UPDATES:

I have been doing some touch up on the differential. Its pretty difficult to sand out all the little touch up areas. What I am going to do instead is get some more K36 High Built primer to fill in those spots instead. I also need another paint gun, the ones that I have are too large for this project. I will getting a smaller paint gun just for this project. So the diff is starting to come to a slow.

I wont be buying that paint gun for awhile thought, I need a new MIG welder instead. The diff is good enough to build the body around now. Now to weld up that frame...

Anyway, I have started on the rear cover for the diff. This was just a mock piece. One of the cuts was off a little bit screwing up the whole left side. This is the main piece of the cover, there will be more pieces to add more detail.
I really appreciate all the comments, they really drive me! Thanks to each and everyone of you that has followed this thread.

Re: ULTIMATE SCRATCHBUILD: 1/6 Hot Rod (Progress)

Your spray guns are too big.... but is an airbrush too small? If anything, a normal hobby airbrush would be... erm... in scale for painting this bad boy. Why spend money on another tool?*

*Dumbest question ever.

Will, I do professional automotive painting as well. I use the larger guns on cars, planes, whatever comes my way. The gun I buy will just be another choice to add to my collection.

The problem with my airbrush is that the widest spray is 3/4" (and this hot rod is 60cm long, thats just one problem. Another problem is the flow of the K36 High Build primer. The K36 is a very heavy primer formulated to fill in minor scratches and pin holes. It simply wont flow through and airbrush without tons of reducer, or chances of clogging the airbrush up. My airbrush has .3mm "tip". The new spray gun has a 4mm tip, big difference.

BTW, it wasnt a dumb question.

Updates:

UPDATES:

Heres the sketch I made last night. Its a quick ink sketche of the diff cover. The "triangular" piece is going to be painted the custom blue pearl to match the top section of the body. The rest will be chromed (Im hoping to use real chrome, so that means all metal).

Sorry, the pic was taken at an angle.

I made another diff cover this morning out of some 20Gage steel. The new one looks better than yesterdays, but still looks shoddy. I need to welding the tabs together and sand those into shape so it looks decent. After that I will do some lead work on the face to give it a more dimensional look. Then after that I will build the painted "triangular" piece.

Updates on the frame and welding, Sunday should be the day. Everybody keep there fingers crossed.

On a side note, white97ex, your quote about my skill and design being on another level, I really appreciate that.
