Those were to encourage Iraq to cooperate, and thus prevent a war with the US. Everyone knew the US was going to invade, 1441 was about trying to prevent the war, or at least delay it. From the minute Iraq was lumped in with "the axis of evil", everyone knew what was coming during his term. A war.

Of course, this war has been a long time in the making. Clinton didn't want the war, so he didn't start it. He didn't want to be remembered as the president who forever alienated the US from the rest of the world, politically. Now we just need a few right wingers to talk about how everything that is wrong with the world today is the fault of Clinton

No, I'm saying the UN was desperately trying to prevent a war, by either verifying or debunking the US and British claims/outright lies about Iraq, using weapons inspectors. Iraq was complying fully, there were absolutely no issues that would be cause for Blix to be concerned...

Of course, Bush was going to start the war, and that's all that mattered.

NOWHERE does it specify force. If you can find where it says that please post it up and put me out of my ignorance.

THAT is why the coalition was seeking another resolution - to validate the war. When they saw they weren't going to get it, they dismissed the UN as irrelevant and started a war anyway. This war was always going to happen. Unfortunately it will not end with the removal of Saddam Hussein...........to be continued..........
