I've been trying to reconstruct what I saw last night -- little details are coming back -- but i'm being cautious not to deceive myself into thinking that I saw something that wasn't there.

I do wear glasses while driving, so if anything is amiss from what I really saw it's my own mind making things up.

=============================================

The first view I got of the car was from the rear (as it passed me on the left.) The only thing I could notice was the top of the rear of the car...that is where the spoiler:

(the built in one that comes up during braking) and tail lights were. I recognized the color as being red, and then my brother's friend shouted out that it was an enzo -- because he saw the red on the back of the passenger cabin.

======

I remember my brother's friend asking: "Is the the back of the car supposed to be missing like that?" For what he was talking about....see this pic :

The black grill work, and the cutout section at the bottom in the middle obviously do not show up too well at night.

I also showed my bother the pic of the S7 you posted here, vs this picture. He ID'd the car as a McLaren.

=======

I floored it to get a closer look and I noticed the rear of the passenger cabin was red as well. I Next I got to the car as to be about 10 degrees off from the center line of the car.

Examples:

It was way too curvy (as demonstrated by this pic) to be a saleen. This particular one is the best representation of what I saw. I distincly remember as I moved closer seeing the contour of the body as it goes over the wheel cover -- had never previously seen an F1 shot from this angle, but when I came home and found this picture I knew it had to be an F1. I remember thinking that it sort of looked like a Viper GTS from this angle:

=======

By this time I was on the curve for the exit lane and looked out my left window again -- seeing the mirrors up high.

As the exit ramp lane started to curve off from route 175 I got one last look at the car -- the right mirror looked high up on the body. Look at the following pic:

Notice where the mirrors are -- they look higher than on most F1s i've seen pictures of. From the angle I caught the mirrors from (the exit lane at this point was slightly lower in elevation than route 175) I thought that the the car had high-mounted mirrors like this one here:

...but now that I think about it more, there is some doubt to what I thought I saw. The blue car up above shows how from the side, and from slightly below you could mistake the mirrors for being top mounted.

=======

Great post - you're even starting to convince me...

All I can say is keep your eyes peeled when driving in that area - maybe you'll see it again. Might even be worth it to buy a disposable camera to keep in your glovebox. You never know what you might see when you're just driving around...

I should have taken the black viper and red late model testarossa sighting that afternoon as omens ...something much better was coming my way =)

I'll keep an eye out. I've traveled route 175 countless of times at various times during the day and never seen anything more than your standard lot of 'stangs and camaros.

I have a cheapo digicam I can keep in my car. The resolution isn't much to cheer about but it's better than nothing.

Here's a weirdo factoid:

I need my glasses to see while driving at night so I was 10 minutes late -- it made the timing for the sighting almost perfect. The ironic thing is I probably wouldn't have been able to ID the car had I not been wearing my specs, but if I had not bothered to search for them so I could put them on then I would not have met up with the car at all!

You'd be right.

Interestingly enough, that yellow car in the center of the photo is also the Clinic Model, as well as the top and bottom photos in your other post with all the pics.

I have heard that the Clinic Model may also have been painted a light blue color for some time as well, but have never seen a real photo to prove that.

And I also want to have all pictures of F1 XP4 parked in front of house. I know that there are at least 6 pictures of this car.

McLarens in the U.S

Let's not forget the silver F1 in Fort Lauderdale at Shelton Ferrari Sitting next to the Enzo in the showroom. Also, my brother told me a few weeks back that he saw an F1 in Sarasota Florida at Coastal Motorsports, sitting in the parking lot. Right on I-75 on Floridas Gulf Coast.

this post sort of side tracked the subject, but so far i know there is at least two mclarens in Australia.

Silver Colour one owned by Linsy Fox, local trunking tycoon, number plate MCLF1, never seen on the road, only on car show.

Gun metal colour one own by i don't know who, Number plate B.KSR (funny i've never seen these type of number plates in Australia before), was sited out side of Crown Casino Melbourne several weeks ago. if any melbournian here know who this car belong to, please tell me, i don't mind pay him or HER a visit

Re: Locations of McLarens in the US...

Carl Beals McLaren F1 plate reads "MCLAR N" and he owns an oil company.
