Since when does how your car look have a damn thing to do with the race? and 5 out of 5 girls questioned answered "gay man's car" when I showed them the picture. And pick up way more chicks? Be honest, you spend all your time being an ass in an automotive forum. When do you pick up chicks? Chatting with girls and posting your pic doesnt count as picking up chicks. Get it straight, poser. |

newbies have no place flaming members here. you're just making up the shit about the girls, "gay man's car" would be something like a beetle or a v6 mustang

I think the original question in this thread had to do with a race...
The answer is: divide the horsies by the weight of the car. For example my max is about 3600 lbs and 255 horse. Math tells me that 255/3600 is .0708. So that means I have .07 horsies per pound of vehicle. So then in your example I think we have about a 3600 lb 180 hp car (.05) vs about a 3400 lb 160 hp car (.47). Now these are just figures off the top of my head - so you have to get the right figures and do the math yourself. Since you are racing auto vs. auto I would definately NOT say this is a drivers race - "drivers" don't drive autos - moms drive autos. The only other thing that can alter what the math tells us about hp vs weight is how the car is geared. I don't think there is any difference here, maxs are geared like dad cars - if they were geared more like the mustang for example they would be much faster than they already are. An example of gearing is I raced a GT the other day and he got up on me about a car and a half in 1st and 2nd gear, but he couldnt pull any further away all the way to about 100mph (my maximum limit for a 6 point traffic ticket). The GT is geared more aggressively than the max so the GT wins. |

JCat - that's a cool conversion. I've never thought of it that way.
JBL - hitting the 1200 post mark by being a dick in every thread doesnt make you any less newb-ish than me. think about it. |

Jcat you're definitely dissin us (moms) just because we drive an auto that makes us women or soft/girly or not a real driver, cool huh you coined this all by yourself, what a genius you are.
As you can tell I disagree with your opinion "moms drive autos, I'd like to personally show you how much of a dad I am but I'll leave that for if I ever see you in person. Just because you drive a stick doesn't make you a driver, genius. Besides has it ever occured to you that some of us "moms" had other reasons for not picking a stick. Geez, the nerve of these noobs to come on here and start dissin, just because they think what they have or what they do somehow makes them better.

No offense to Moms meant at all!! I like Moms!!
I was dissing a GUY - its quite a common thing to calla guy a girl if you want to insult him you know. As for the auto thing, hmmm.... I can't think of one good reason to own one - unless your an amputee. if that is the case I'm just gonna go hide now because what could be worse than me making fun of you if you really are an amputee (or have one of those baby arms). ...prepares to duck flying objects.

From the standstill the 4th gen owns, from a roll about 70-120 the 5th gen will own because the VI will kick in, so quicker is a matter of where you start or what type of race you are talking about.

A 95 or 96 automatic or five speed is faster from 0 to 60
and a five speed is still faster than a 00 or 01 five speed. 95 and 96 were the best years for speed unitl the 02.

Question was a race of a auto 2000 GLE and a auto 98 GXE.
With my 98 GXE, a 2000 GLE would lose. Ive raced two, a 2000 GLE and a 01 SE both automatics with my 98 Maxima. It may not be much but we raced them both times, each car to 0 to 100 and my 98 GXE was a car lenth ahead of both the 00 and 01. Might I add I have a very quick stock 98 Auto Maxima GXE. :flash:

All the arguments about which car is faster can be cleared up by math.
I looked up a few maxs on edmunds: 2002 3224 lbs 255 hp = .079 hp/lb 2001 Same as 2000 2000 3199 lbs 222 hp = .0693 hp/lb 1999 3014 lbs 190 hp = .063 hp/lb You can keep going all the way back. What it comes down to is the 5th gen is the fastest max ever built period. Can the driver make a difference? Oh hell ya. But assuming the same driving abilities the 5th gen wins. The only other factor is if you have manual or auto. The manual beats all - again assuming you know how to drive it. So, to sum it up : All other factors being equal the 5th gen is the fastest max ever built. :bandit: ....I'm too cool for this hat |

Oh, and since we have some Altima folks struttin around here like they have an $18,000 maxima - heres the math.
2002 3178 lbs 240 hp = .755 hp/lb The max wins. :frog: ....wanna race? |
