Re: WIP: 1970 'Gulf' Porsche 917K
more progress on the cockpit...
to the left of the dash and down on the floor is what appears to be the eletrical gizmos for the car, relays, fuses etc. This is omitted from the kit and obviously I had to add it, it was pretty straightforward, a bit of plasplate for the back and the rest were bits raided from the old/spares box. I drilled the four boxes and added fuse wire and coloured it accordingly. ![]() this is roughly where it sits in relation to the dashboard... ![]() as you can see I have also added the steering column and wheel, the column is straight from the sprue with a little clean up. For the wheel itself I cut out the plastic centre and replaced this with the Studio 27 etch upgrade - in my ref pics there are again numerous different wheels been used on the car and a mixture of black and bare metal so I've gone for the latter, I also tried to pick out a little stitching effect too. I have added a plunger on the top of the dash made from wire and an etch piece - this activates the fire extinguisher on the real car. ![]() ... still no engine :-(

Re: WIP: 1970 'Gulf' Porsche 917K
I just love what you did to the dashboard not to mention the seams on the steering wheel, wow!
Let's hope for a quick delivery of the engine, I'm sure it will look as good as the rest. Keep it coming, I've just glued my jaw with super glue and that would keep it from falling. Niclas |

Crikey!
Super detailing on the dash. I am really impressed with your ingenuity in making all those little details.

Re: WIP: 1970 'Gulf' Porsche 917K
Hi
As I'm into a Fujimi Gulf Porsche quickie myself I have tried to find a proper powder blue for the car. I have found two colours which both are labeled Gulf blue, but I must say that I'm disappointed with one brand. Guess which one on this unsuspecting GT2 that received Gulf blue on each side from two brands? I have contacted the seller about it, so for now it will remain nameless. ![]() The colour on the right side - my final choice - is Finishers. Great work on the details Sean. Best regards Flemming |

Re: WIP: 1970 'Gulf' Porsche 917K
Outstanding, convincing, inspiring job, Sean. Just a pleasure to follow step by step: despite I'm fully ignorant in Porsche stuff I ever loved this car. Great.

thanks again to one and all for the comments!

Its funny - the colour scheme on your Porsche looks exactly like the current design for the Nike Football Goalkeeping shirts that are used at the moment :-)

That's stunning man, the line looks so straight and neat, can't imagine it's hand painted. I guess I'll mess up everything if I do the same~ |
