Re: AMC owners?

i have a 1970 AMC hornet, i am rebuilding it it only has 32,000 miles on it and its running strong....looking at the recent comments about the car not running.... i had the same situation, but all i did was remove the carburater clean it with a tooth brush and "brake cleaner" that stuff works like magic. and set it to where the choke is somewhat opened, added a new fuel filter added a new elderbrook, or how ever you spell it, filter and now my hornet is beasty like runs like a champ

Re: AMC owners?

Country singer Conway Twitty whom passed away in 1993 owned an AMC Pacer. It was his favorite car calling it his "fishbowl" and did not get reconized in it.I know the guy that has it with proof,Picture of Conway sitting on it and I have seen it.It is in Muskegon,Mi and I know the guy who has it in his car collection.

CALLING ALL AMC'ers!

Newbie to the forum and desparate to find others! Hopefully someone can help me with my 88 Eagle Wagon dilemma! I'm the guy with the locking front wheels when it gets cold outside...but not in warm weather! When it gets cold you can litterally burn rubber from the back wheels but ut will noyt move the car. Makes me NUTS and the usual mechanic has had it in to look at it so many times (nice cash if you can make it) but never finds the problem! As soon as he pulls it into the garage and it warms up, it is fine and everything works again! Does it seem to anyone else this thing took on water and is somehow freezing and causing this?

Re: AMC owners?

I have a 65 Marlin and love AMC's. Wouldn't mind having a Gremlin or a Pacer.

Re: AMC owners?

I have two AMX/Javelins

A 1973 - White ext, blk int. It runs but needs a lower end rebuild due to a knocking rod sound.

A 1974 - on blocks waiting for a complete frame-off style restoration.

During high school I owned two '69 AMXs but to my regret were sold many years ago before they started to climb in value. Back in those days, the chevs, fords, mopars were all jumping value but the AMCs were at a standstill. I gave up.

Re: AMC owners?

I have a 70 javelin; 360, shift command and twin grip 4:10 rear.
This was my very first car that I ever owned. I had made the mistake in high school to totally dismantle the car so I could make a drag car out of it. I lost interest and sold it.
About 12 years later, my wife and brother found that same car and bought it back for me. (Still in pieces; STUPID ME)
Now the jav is sitting in my garage waiting for me to find the parts and put it back together.
