Coming along superbly! Keep at the carbon fibre, it is a lot of hard work but worth it in the end.

Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress

Update time again !

The rear part is completly finished. I used MicroScale Satin clear over the decal without any problem (finally) and added few bolt here and there. I really love the result

Then I started the front part. Roof and one side is covered. Quite a task !

Looks great Eric! You're on a roll now. At the rate you're going you'll be done in a week.

I wouldn't bet on it. there is still a lot of work to do. Probably more 3 weeks or 1 month.

This is certainly looking fantastic. You show a great deal of skill and patience doing the full CF treatment, i wish i had the time and skills.

Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress

Yet another problem.
I'm now at decal #22 of carbon (gold sheets) and it's just like the bad sheets I had at start.

This is just after removing it from the water:

I contacted SMS to see what's up again.. Project is once again on hold because of that (it's sad, it was going very well, having all the carbon, except the gold from the 3rd sheets done)

That sux man, it was going so well. This is one of the best full carbon cars out there. Let us know when you get restarted.

Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress

Damn, and that gold sheet is quite a unique pattern, not something you could substitute a regular carbon fibre sheet with. Looks like it hasn't had the carrier film applied properly or something.

Makes me nervious about the sheet I have stashed away...

Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress

Well I did hear that there was a bad batch of SMS decals that had this problems. Several have experienced the exact problem of cracking just as you posted, and it was due to the bad batch.
