Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress
Coming along superbly!
Keep at the carbon fibre, it is a lot of hard work but worth it in the end. |

Great, looks good.
Now it seems you found the right way to do it.

This is certainly looking fantastic. You show a great deal of skill and patience doing the full CF treatment, i wish i had the time and skills.

Trully inspirational stuff.Working with carbon decals is such a hit and miss affair, you are doing a fantastic job at it. Keep up the good work.

Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress
Yet another problem.
I'm now at decal #22 of carbon (gold sheets) and it's just like the bad sheets I had at start. This is just after removing it from the water: I contacted SMS to see what's up again.. Project is once again on hold because of that (it's sad, it was going very well, having all the carbon, except the gold from the 3rd sheets done)

That sux man, it was going so well. This is one of the best full carbon cars out there. Let us know when you get restarted.

Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress
Damn, and that gold sheet is quite a unique pattern, not something you could substitute a regular carbon fibre sheet with. Looks like it hasn't had the carrier film applied properly or something.
Makes me nervious about the sheet I have stashed away... |

Re: Porsche 911 GT1 Test Mule (Full Carbon !) Progress
Well I did hear that there was a bad batch of SMS decals that had this problems. Several have experienced the exact problem of cracking just as you posted, and it was due to the bad batch.
