Re: Another step forward....

I had a similar incident which was a really scary one at that, happened when i was insatlling the headers. The exhast manifolds were really rsted on, and the one of the bolts decided to break off inside the damn head. It was a real bitch getting it off. It came off abot 2hr later. Alot of time consming wrenching. I thogh i was gonna have to get a torch to get it off.

Re: Another step forward....

I would much rather break a bolt off in the head than one in the main cap.
My new block isn't aluminum, it is iron.

Re: Another step forward....

About the weight of the A/C that isn't going back in.

Around 80 extra pounds.

Re: Another step forward....

If it is that hot, I drive the Grand Am. Trying to save the weight off the front of the car.

Re: Another step forward....

Probably weight. I see a lot of people taking that out, just not on the 'Maro forums.

Well its obvious about the weight but I wouldnt think you'd want to drive the G/A after you got done with the car.

Re: Another step forward....

If it hits 100, it would only be a couple days a year. We had a rough July and August, bunch of 100 degree days in there. Most of the summer we are in the 90's, and now we average about 83-85. I am sure we will have a couple more 90 degree days yet though.

The Grand Am runs off midgrade, Trans Am will do nothing but ping without premium. Plus, I doubt the Trans Am will be getting 27+ MPG when she is running again.
